Job Description
The British Dental Association (BDA) is the national professional association for dentists in the UK. This is a challenging and dynamic period for dentistry and the BDA is recruiting a Director to lead our operations in Wales.
This is a senior, high profile role that will be responsible for the planning, co-ordination and effective delivery of BDA advice, services, products and structures to BDA members in Wales. Working closely with the senior elected officers in Wales and the BDA’s UK Principal Executive Committee, the post holder will represent the BDA in Wales at the highest level.
The role is offered on a part-time three day per week basis and the post holder will also be responsible for ensuring the good running of the BDA’s Wales office; maintaining a thorough knowledge of the health, social care and related services in Wales; establishing and maintaining a wide range of contacts with legislators, advisers, and persons of influence within the Welsh Assembly, political parties, health and social care departments and other relevant bodies; and participating with fellow directors and other senior colleagues in the development, planning and effective delivery of BDA activities across the whole of the UK.
The successful candidate should be self-motivated and must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the dental, political and democratic landscape with Wales; an interest in current issues facing dentistry; an understanding of the issues for professional associations such as the BDA; excellent communication skills; the ability to network widely both within and outside dentistry; and proven experience to lead and motivate a small team.
This role will involve travel within Wales and the rest of the UK from time to time.
