Job description


In order to be the best bank for customers we need to ensure our systems operate seamlessly. One of our rapidly growing areas is in Group IT is "Middleware" which is at the heart of platforms such as our Internet and Mobile Banking platforms.

We are looking for a Financial Services experienced Websphere Application Server (WAS) Design Manager with knowledge of version 6.1 or higher (V7 or V8.5 ideally) to work with our Java Enterprise Edition platform (J2EE).

You'll be part of a team that produces and delivers WAS designs that support numerous services across the bank - influencing and driving improvements to the current architecture / roadmaps and the future direction of the WAS platform.

There are lots of challenges in the numerous project portfolios this role touches which offers some considerable variety and a genuine opportunity to put your skills to the test.

There's also a need to be commercially-aware in this role as balancing requirements with both budgets and timescales so experience in leading projects would be highly beneficial.

You'll also need to be capable of communicating complex information and ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences as well as having the analytical and project management skills required.
