Job description

HSBC are looking to hire a Head of Portfolio Trade Finance Risk Manager and Portfolio Trade Finance Risk Manager to support the more senior incumbent.

Role Overview

The Head of Portfolio Risk, GTRF is a key role in the management of the risk profile and the risk weighted assets for the Global Trade and Receivable Finance (GTRF) business. The GTRF business provided products and services to both Global Banking and Commercial Banking for which this role has portfolio risk responsibility covering over 60 countries, with over USD70bn in Risk Weighted Assets, generating revenues of overUSD3.5bn and a PBT of over USD2.4bn (all numbers DEC12).

Within this the role is responsible for the agenda setting and management of the GTRF RMC, ensuring top and emerging risks are identified and appropriately investigated and mitigated, ensure that stakeholders fully understand the inherent risk and rewards, including regulatory risk requirements, and assist in finding compliant operational solutions to support business growth and ensure proper process, systems and controls are in place to protect the business assets, reputation and people.

Qualifications

Typically qualifications would include post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance Risk Management or a related field.

Experience

Significant experience within both Global Trade and Receivables Finance and Risk Management, across all levels of the organisation.
Experience of creating and leading a team.
Has developed a high level of professional competence which helps to determine risk based solutions.

Skills

Understands the global strategies of the Group, GTRF and CMB / Global Banking at a Global Business/Regional level to accomplish these strategies;
Outstanding leadership skills, demonstrating ability to initiative and effect change through people in a large matrix organisation with ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the most senior level in the organisation [Head of Position Only]
Communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management in the language of business;
Understand and interpret complex business requirements and prioritise competing demands;
Demonstrated ability to assess Risk trends, both internally and externally;
Exceptional drive and commitment

Able to work pragmatically in varying markets under difficult conditions
Excellent presentation skills (written & verbal)
Ability to highlight problems but more importantly offer solutions, and drive through their execution in a collective environment
