A high-profile appointment, this offers the opportunity to develop, manage and deliver pioneering technical assistance programmes that will make a tangible difference to millions across the Commonwealth, while broadening your career horizons.
Harnessing your outstanding analytical and economic advisory skills, you will lead a team of exceptional economists who will shape the Secretariat’s pioneering work in sustainable development through research and advocacy for small states, regional co-operation, economic management and the environment;
engaging on contemporary development issues, including with the G20 and other partners. You will also lead the delivery of major international meetings, including the annual Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting, annual G20 dialogue and biennial Small States Meeting.
This appointment is integral to the Secretariat’s Senior Management Group, influencing overall development strategies and policies; providing thought leadership; advising the Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General (Economic and Social Development) in highly specialised areas; and providing management oversight to dedicated and experienced teams.
The ideal candidate will have:
A post-graduate degree in Economics
A minimum of 15 years’ experience with at least 10 years at senior management level, directing a team of multidisciplinary professionals
Experience working in a governmental or in an international organisation, and working on development issues
Extensive experience in the sustainable development area
Substantial experience working in developing countries and prior field-based development experience will be assets.
