Job Description:
The Job Purpose Is To Act As a First Line Of Defence Operational Risk Officer, Providing Leadership, Development And Oversight Of Client Coverage's Credit Stewardship Accountabilities, Including
Providing relevant & succinct insight and information (alerting and reporting) on credit stewardship items across Client Coverage, including Group Mandate / Business Credit Application and documentation maturities, and covenant and risk trigger due dates;
Liaising with stakeholders (including senior management) to understand, report on and address credit stewardship related overdues and failures, including proactive identification and addressing of issues and inefficiencies;
Under delegated authority, oversight of the Operating Risk Framework for Credit & Credit Processes in respect of CIC, Europe, including determining risk ratings and appropriate governance (acting as Country Process Owner);
Acting as a partner to both Client Coverage and Risk, through an array of initiatives and routines - operating with independence and integrity at all times.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities (held alongside those in the business ultimately accountable) in respect credit stewardship span the following areas:
Timely Group Mandate and Business Credit Application submission to Risk: Ensuring CIC, Europe meets agreed targets and thresholds, as agreed from time to time
Full and timely monitoring of covenants and risk triggers: Ensuring all covenants and risk triggers are monitored and reported on appropriately and in a timely manner
Full and timely management of documentation: Ensuring expiring documentation is addressed in a timely manner and that overdue waivers (or similar, such as DDNs) related to documentation meet agreed targets and thresholds, as agreed from time to time
Specifically, The Role Holder's Responsibilities Will Encompass The Following Activities
Developing and refining tools & routines to inform and alert relationship managers in respect of credit stewardship-related upcoming tasks due, partnering with an array of stakeholders as necessary;
Partnering with relationship managers in understanding blockages and issues that arise in respect of such tasks due;
Responsibility for reporting on overdue items and other oversight and/or operational risk issues, including working through all such issues one-on one with relationship managers and preparing reporting for senior management;
Identifying specific opportunities for improvement in credit stewardship across CIC Europe and working with stakeholders to deliver these;
Qualifications And Skills
Seasoned experience in the operational risk environment, with a strong preference for such experience to come from a front-office operational risk environment;
Developed and broad experience ( up to 10 years) in banking across multiple business segments, focused particularly on SCB's product set and footprint
Understanding of investment and commercial banking organisational design and a demonstrated ability to 'navigate' to achieve client delivery in a safe and sound manner
Strong analytical ability, with developed skills and experience around risk assessment, measurement and management, in particular
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to work across cultures and within a dynamic environment
Strong interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to appropriately 'manage' demands from peers and superiors
Capable of holding a credible Board level dialogue with clients
Genuine team based approach to making the organisation work for the business.
