Our flagship Cloud Web Security product already secures around 6 billion web requests every day, applying a range of heuristics, categorization and filtering technology to safeguard against attack. We are looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the design, development, testing and operation of our core Cloud Web Security product. We are looking for leaders that excel across three dimensions:
• People: You will head around 50 staff made up of senior Technical Leaders, Engineering Managers, Software Engineers and Operations Engineers. So proven ability to inspire and orchestrate teams is mandatory.
• Business focus: As an experienced leader, you will be expected to contribute to both the definition and the execution of our business and technology strategy.
• Technical excellence: Our success is dependent on our agility and ability to cope with the demands of extreme scale. All this is based on a technology infrastructure that must remain cutting edge.

A background in an Agile and scrum is essential, since this underpins all our processes. You will also need the energy to drive through continual change programs.

Responsibilities
• Day to day leadership of the Engineering team
• Partnering with Product Management to ensure the team has a clear strategic direction and roadmap
• Resource allocation for key projects
• Coaching staff to develop their full potential
• Project oversight – ability to break through complexity to find simple solutions
• Managing risk and issues

Qualifications
• Extensive background in Software Engineering, preferably within multi-national environments
• Results focused with a track record of success working in an Agile environment
• Experience building and managing a diverse team, both onshore and offshore
• Good grounding in relevant technologies: Java, Linux, TCP/IP
• An exceptional mentor and leader with a passion for continuous improvement
• Excellent organisation and communication skills
• Ability to pick up new technologies quickly
• Pro-active, flexible and a people person
