Job Description:
An opportunity has arisen for a Design Director to join our busy team here at BBC Worldwide.
We are seeking an experienced Design Director who has worked within a broadcast or agency. Foremost a conceptual thinker they will be experienced in launching and managing broadcast brands with an excellent understanding of experiential, digital platforms and consumer products.
The ideal candidate will have a flair for compelling art direction and an in depth knowledge of all design forms and trends. This job description forms part of the proposed Creative Services structure. An inspirational leader, the Design Director will have experience of managing a team of integrated designers and art workers, providing mentoring and craft support, nurturing talent and providing opportunities for development.

The Design Director is responsible for shaping and defining our design approach, developing brand solutions and overseeing projects from idea to execution. This is an exciting role leading a team of integrated designers and art workers, they will work with the Executive Creative Director to manage campaigns, experiential, animation, digital, print and on air across BBC Worldwide’s Drama, Comedy, Children’s, Factual, Entertainment and Brand Genres. The post holder will be responsible for managing senior stakeholders and providing a single point of entry and exit for work coming in and leaving the studio. The Design Director will uphold the importance of strategy and clear briefs as well as recognize the importance of balancing the commercial with the artistic.

Accountabilities
Oversee the design workstream for integrated campaigns and on-air trails, working closely with the Executive Creative Director and Creative Director to deliver conceptual and brand focussed 360 campaigns.
Manage and oversee channel brands including launches, rebrands and OSP kits, working alongside central and regional marketing and creative.
Oversee the design and art direction of franchise brands and key titles including their launches at pivotal events in the sales calendar as well as the look and feel of our titles across all print and event collateral.
Oversee event branding for key B2B events.
Oversee all print collateral including brochures, catalogues and online sales resources, working closely with the copywriting team to ensure a synergy of words and pictures.
Manage and inspire a team of designers, keeping abreast of developments within popular culture and design trends, ensuring the bar is set high and that the team are motivated and eager to learn. Brief and direct photography shoots on set.
In partnership with the Studio Manager, work within budget and timeframe, ensuring that work is planned effectively and efficiently, balancing the needs of the creative within the operational conditions.
Manage the client experience, demystifying where required, addressing all points of view and ensuring that stakeholders are satisfied with the outcome. Be the pivotal point between the needs of the business and the voice of the designer.
Plugged into regional trends within key territories, ensure that design output across EMEA is culturally appropriate and with clear attention to localisation detail.
