Based in London the Director, Credit Products, is a leadership role that acts as a senior interface in the creation and delivery of credit products and solutions throughout Wealth Management International (WMI). The position will also interact with Group Risk Management – Credit on a regular basis and will have a strong understanding of Credit writing and risk management. The incumbent of this role is expected to quickly obtain a strong understanding of Credit policies and procedures and RBC lending practices. The key duties of the role will be to work with Sales & Relationship Management and Trust Directors, to assess clients’ credit requirements, to manufacture credit solutions that meet the requirements, and to balance these needs with the revenue and return benchmarks of WMI and RBC.
What will you do?
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic:
Work with the Head of Credit Products British Isles to further develop and execute the delivery of credit marketing strategies throughout The British Isles.
Assist the Credit department in its business development activities, including client visits.
Participate in strategy meetings with RBC Wealth Management teams to align strategy with partners across the bank, including investments and sales teams.
Tactical:
Work with Trust Directors, Relationship Managers, Investment Managers and other business partners to develop credit referrals, create viable and appropriate structural credit solutions, and negotiate pricing, terms and other conditions.
Growth targets and revenue generation targets to be agreed in advance and reviewed on an annual basis in line with business strategy from time to time.
Profitability/Return: Management of risk/reward, pricing of transactions, ROE and profitability of transactions within WMI target parameters.
Risk Analysis: ensure the prudent risk analysis of transactions prepared by self and direct report(s).
Documentation: Ensure appropriate documenting of all credit risks per guidelines and approvals.
Credit Exposure Monitoring: Responsible for the maintenance of high quality risk profile of the portfolio in The British Isles consistent with the risk tolerance of WMI portfolio review and reporting.
Collateral Monitoring: Responsible for ongoing collateral management of designated accounts.
Policy - Play an active role in the development of policy and credit products to meet the needs of clients and the business.
Staff Management:
Management, review and assessment of the credit work prepared by 1 or more direct report(s). Ongoing assessment of needs and provision of necessary training & development to unit staff, including opportunity to enhance their awareness of other sectors of RBC. Completion of regular performance appraisal and career development discussions.
Responsible for ensuring effectiveness of communications, providing guidance and coaching where required and ensuring strong employee satisfaction ratings and a committed, enthusiastic team.
Recruitment and development of training plans for new staff as required.
Provision of training to other departments as required/requested.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports directly to the Head of Credit Products, WMI. Key interactions are with:
• Clients/Trust Directors/Relationship Managers/Originators in the British Isles.
• Head of Credit WMI.
• Credit Specialists.
• Credit Transaction Management.
• Group Risk Management.
• Legal and other internal/external professionals.
HOW WILL SUCCESS BE MEASURED?
• Revenue and Asset growth in line with personal targets and/or targets set by immediate supervisor or Head of Region.
• Distribution channel/Business Head/GRM feedback on delivery of credit products in line with core values.
• Maintenance of portfolio quality (BRR migration)
• Losses contained within acceptable parameters
• Clean internal/external audits
What do you need to succeed? Must-have:
Technical
• In depth knowledge of RBC credit policies, procedures, practices.
• Strong risk assessment/credit skills
• Sound knowledge of WMI’s return on capital and pricing policies.
• Sound working knowledge of securities markets, foreign exchange markets and investment markets practices.
• PC Literate – Word/Excel/PowerPoint etc.
• Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice.

Nice-to-have
Extensive track record and relevant banking experience with past roles including credit marketing, structuring and client facing experience at a relatively senior level being mandatory requirements for this position.
Graduate business or related degree, ACIB Qualification, or equivalent.
Preferred:
• Private client and/or trust lending experience are desirable.
• Fluency in additional languages an advantage.
