As the Senior Lawyer, Investments, you will have a role that matters, developing, leading and managing a small specialist team to undertake the delivery of high quality legal advice and assistance to meet the business needs of the investment-related areas of the Insurance division of Lloyds Banking Group.
You will be required to work effectively with senior management and executives across Insurance functions with specific responsibility for investment (life and OEIC) products to ensure compliance with legal requirements. You will be required proactively to challenge, advise and influence senior management and executives on legal issues associated with investment products in order to protect the interests of, and develop the business of the Insurance division.
The investment products business within the Insurance division is a diverse and complex group of regulated life and OEIC legal entities, together with a supporting holding and service structure. The principal brand is Scottish Widows and products are sold through intermediaries, direct and through bancassurance.
Your key accountabilities will include acting as a senior source of professional expertise providing proactive professional advice as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and contributing to the development of policy and procedures.
You will have the opportunity to implement the medium term operational plans specific to your own/ supported area, taking into account the wider business, legal/ governance and regulatory context.
You will deliver legal technical input to influence projects with a significant impact across the Group or a number of Business Units and may manage appropriate resource to meet business needs. In addition, you will positively influence others by demonstrating the core LBG values and behaviours and, where appropriate, manage, develop and motivate colleagues to support a high performing team.
Providing advice and guidance to business areas on Legal Risk Management using the relevant risk management policy framework is key, as is managing the relevant risk policies and frameworks.
You will build and maintain external and internal network and relationships to provide appropriate professional advice to achieve the Group's objectives and report and escalate legal or governance issues within own / supported area, recommending solutions as required and you will initiate and deliver agreed change programmes to achieve continuous improvement
To be successful in the role, you will be a UK qualified solicitor or barrister with significant recent experience in investments products – ideally life assurance and regulated funds knowledge.
