As Director, UK Government Relations, you will be providing support to all BAE Systems Business Units operating in the UK market with respect to environment, policies, processes and practices, customer relationship management and business winning. You will be leading, promoting and applying BAE Systems best practice and lessons learnt in business winning in the UK market.
This role will enable you to operate on a strategic level, building relationships with key stakeholders.
Watch: Career Advice Your main responsibilities as Director, UK Government Relations will involve:
Supporting non UK based Business Units (primarily BAE Systems Inc.) who wish to enter the UK market, ranging from assisting with prospecting through to business capture
Acting as the Group Business Development representative in Integrated Campaign Teams (ICTs) and providing input to specific capture plans
Identifying and leading Business Development activities prior to incorporation into the Integrated Business Plan (IBP)
Coordinating Business Development activities where the capabilities of multiple Business Units may be required to address specific opportunities. Supporting the development, implementation and coordination of communities of practice
Cooperation with selected branches of the MOD and Front Line Commands, including regular engagement with MOD Supplier Relations Team, MOD Scrutiny, DCDC and various Foreign London based Embassies
Leading, promoting and applying BAE Systems best practice and lessons learnt in business winning in the UK market including chairing and supporting business winning and life cycle reviews
Supporting and advising Business Units with respect to the organisation and development of their Business Development capabilities, and mentoring Business Development professionals
Developing relationships with industrial partners
Your skills and qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a good general knowledge of the UK market and, in particular, the MOD. This includes MOD policy, particularly concerning acquisition, but also doctrine, current concepts of operation and organisations
You should have a strong track record of business winning activity; this includes business development and / or campaign leadership
Understanding of the role of Business Development and how to shape and track customer requirements and experience of developing and implementing long term market strategies
A good working knowledge of business wining policies and procedures, including developing and implementing long term market strategies and capture planning and execution
Ideally, a functioning network of contacts across MOD, at multiple levels, as well as the broader defence and security landscape
Ideally a good understanding of BAE Systems’ capabilities, with particular emphasis on products and services and understanding of system level solutions within a C4ISR context
