Janssen UK and the Johnson & Johnson Law department are looking to hire a Legal Director responsible for providing legal support to the Janssen business in the UK and Ireland. The Legal Director will be a member of the Janssen UK & Ireland Management Committee and will be responsible for providing strategic and operational legal advice and counsel in all areas of law, so as to support the business and help them achieve their goals, while protecting the company’s rights, interests and reputation. The Legal Director will provide counsel to senior management at strategic level, and be primarily responsible for local Law Department alignment with his/her supervision and other members of Johnson & Johnson Law Department. The Legal Director will be a member of the Johnson & Johnson Law Department (EMEA)

As Legal Affairs Director you will be responsible for;-
Coordinating legal matters for the business, partnering with business and support functions when required with the help of outside counsel;
Provide strategic proactive and reactive legal advice on a wide range of proposed business initiatives, projects and materials in different areas such as sales and marketing, tenders, pricing and reimbursement, regulatory affairs, ethics and compliance, ABPI guidelines, privacy.
Negotiate and draft complex commercial and other partnering arrangements in several areas, including, in particular NICE/SMC and NHS
Drive and coordinate litigation
Liaise with and Manage outside counsel;
Participate in multi-functional project teams and committees to assess and implement special/significant projects in the local business and/or J&J Law Department (EMEA);
Play an active role in the external environment ( and participate in relevant Trade Associations such as ABPI legal committee) on topics critical to the business and J&J in close collaboration with management and other functional groups ( Governmental Affairs, Hemar);
Actively monitor and where required advise on New Health Care Regulations
Anticipate and address critical legal, business and ethical issues;
Provide regular trainings to the business teams on items such as competition law, tendering, FCPA and UK Anti-bribery laws, regulatory laws etc.
The Legal Director will also be expected to play an active role within the Law department EMEA , e.g. supporting colleagues/virtual teams in one or more functional domains based on expertise acquired during his or her career (e.g. competition law, IP, corporate law, privacy laws, social media.

Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications and Profile Education. UK Law degree, obtained with excellent results, supplementary degree or LLM abroad considered an asset. Candidates are expected to be either a Solicitor or Barrister entitled to practice in England Experience.
Extensive relevant experience in legal work, ideally acquired in an international law firm and/or law department of an international corporation with a focus on
