Job description
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
• Directs, leads and manages the applications team, consisting of a post-sales application support group and a benchmarking group.
• Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).
• Ensures the timely, thorough and accurate fulfilment of all application support contracts.
• Oversees the preparation of new or modified application support in collaboration with the responsible sales account manager and the line manager. Represents Cray towards customers.

• Ensures the timely, thorough and accurate fulfilment of all benchmarking needs for proposal projects.
• Oversees and manages benchmarking efforts during proposal preparation and develops the technical optimisation and code change strategy for winning due to superior application performance.
• Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the team and fulfil all contractual obligations.
• Acts as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develops and administers schedules and performance requirements; has budget responsibilities.
• Manages education efforts for customers on applications and Cray systems and Cray programming environments.


• Makes customer presentations and trainings.
• Requires a Masters degree or higher in computer science, computational science, or applied mathematics.
• Deep understanding of advanced parallel programming and scientific parallel applications, of performance assessment and modelling, as well as of optimisation strategies for parallel codes.
• Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of line management experience as well as project management experience.
• Strong technical understanding.
• Proven analytical skills and strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, prioritize work and deliver software projects on time and within budget.
• Ability to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways.
• Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Work requires imaginative, thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of problems.
• Ability to communicate effectively across the function and across organizational boundaries, or with customers
• Ability to use personal influence and power to ensure work is completed.
• Ability to work effectively both individually and with others
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment
• Off-hours works routinely required
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of German and/or French desirable.
• EU or Swiss work permit required.
