The IT Director Technology and Solutions is the senior accountable leader for providing the technical expertise into all our programmes and projects and to ensure quality transition into service
This role will be responsible for developing and leading a team of high quality developer resources (permanent, contract and third party), across multiple skill sets (web, ERP, open source) ensuring the current and future technical expertise is available to enable successful delivery and transition into service. It will also be responsible for building a new team to undertake core infrastructure and platform project work transferring from the Service Operations team.
Working with their peers in the Business Change and Delivery team a highly collaborative and delivery orientated approach is required. The role will work closely with the Enterprise Architecture team, which is accountable for enterprise, solution and domain architecture, to ensure alignment with our architectural strategy and guidelines. It will also work closely with the IT Commercial Team and Procurement to provision third parties to provide services of the highest standard; and the Service Operations team to ensure transition into service.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, proactive, technical leader with experience leading within a cross functional team structure. You should be someone who is able to work closely with portfolio, programme and project managers, business analysts and test managers. You will be passionate about developing quality services, ensuring your team are highly skilled and future facing and take a truly customer and business focused approach.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President of IT - Business Change and Delivery (BCD) you will be responsible for the following activities and others which may arise through the development of the role:
Develop a high quality technical capability to deliver what we promise to our internal customers
Ensure solutions adhere to architectural principles
Drive a quality metrics approach to tracking technical performance
Be accountable for ensuring the team understand their accountabilities and are delivery focussed
Ensure that we develop and align high quality dev, QA and production environments
Work with the Portfolio, PMO and Procurement teams to agree and source appropriate permanent and contract resource
Ensure work packages for delivery by third parties are clearly defined and ensure third party technical work is of the expected quality
Work closely with Service Operations to ensure successful transition into service
Be accountable for the career development and technical skills of the team
Keep abreast of best practise in the IT world
Skills And Experience
Highly experienced in successfully leading and developing technical development teams
Experience in leading within a cross functional team structure
A broad enterprise systems and infrastructure background with experience of SaaS
A deep understanding of the importance of customer experience
Target and delivery driven, always keeping the customer’s interests at heart
Understanding of IT project management and development methodologies
Deep understanding of, and experience in implementing technical solutions and services across many technologies
Great at analytical thinking and problem resolution
