The area currently covers whole UK and the role will be based in London, UK. The equivalent level in other companies would correspond to supply chain director / GM, operations level position and responsibility. The UK Supply Chain consists of fulfillment centers outsourced to Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers, to Amazon’s Vendors or operated indirectly at a non-Amazon site. The spend you will manage is in excess of 60M euros on annualized level. You will lead the operations team to deliver our plan, the growth and meet our performance objectives. We are extremely focused on our customers, satisfying the customer demand and successfully meeting the ever raising performance targets. The current network consists of 3 fulfillment centers (of which 1 has been opened this year), 2 temporary fulfillment centers for Q4 and 20 flex operations with plans for increasing this number significantly in the next 24 months. Additionally, there are several hundred direct vendors that the organization deals with. We believe in lean organization, maximizing the performance of our team members thus driving the best opportunities for our people to thrive. Currently the direct team comprises of 16 high performing individuals whom you need to coach to even higher results. Indirectly the role oversees the work of 1500+ blue collars in Peak period.

The main interfaces in this position are with Amazon Operations, Retail, S&OP, Vendor Operations and Transportation teams, as well as Tech Solutions and Operational Excellence teams. Key focus areas are improving the customer experience, delivery performance, inventory management and costs while providing high flexibility and fast reaction times to our customers in a very fast growing environment. You participate in contract negotiations for new supplier contracts and lead the deployment of additional capacity to support our growth together with central procurement team. New solution and offering development and implementation are also part of the job scope.

As Head of Operations for UK Supply Chain you will manage the geography and local team while reporting to the Regional Director of European External Fulfillment. You will also be a member of the Regional External Fulfillment Management Team.


Responsibilities:

You drive the execution of our vision and goals for UK to meet our ambitious growth targets
You plan, direct and run the Operations in close cooperation with the local S&OP and Transportation teams, as well as with Retail / Vendor Operations
You own the performance and throughput of our 3PL partners
You ensure commitments, goals and our budgets (cost per delivery) are meet for each 3PL site
You interact with senior 3PL management and 3PL sites to oversee the day-to-day operation and ensure Amazon customer experience is fulfilled as promised
You represent Operations within the project team, responsible for Procurement and launch of new 3PL capacity under the guidance issued by Amazon EU HQ in Luxembourg
You contribute to ramp up of new 3PL capacity in close collaboration with Launch teams
You ensure entire and faithful respect of 3PL contract, especially regarding Health & Safety, Customer Experience, Inventory Management and all Legal & Compliance aspects
You drive process improvements in collaboration with the Operational Excellence
You manage risks and opportunities to overall Operations objectives and budget (60+M euros)
You ensure smooth and efficient flow of accurate information across Amazon’s Retail, Operations and Customer Fulfillment teams

Basic Qualifications

Robust experience in Operations within logistics, supply chain, distribution or manufacturing environment in an international company
Knowledge of service provider’s contract management and good negotiation skills with experience in negotiating multi-million euro contracts
Exceptional project management skills
Management of teams across several countries as well as capacity to influence others in a complex, cross-functional and European wide environment
Strong communication & interpersonal skills with good collaboration in matrix organization
Strong leadership towards key deliverables (quality, lead times, costs) and operational excellence
Sound business judgment, good financial understanding and instincts. Is right a lot
Strong analytical skills and attention to details
Able to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment
Accountable for results. Insists on the highest standards for self and others
Computer literacy (MS Office, Intranet solutions, ERPs) with basics of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
Bachelor’s degree in Operations/Supply Chain or Business
Fluent in English with preference for additional, major European languages
Preferred Qualifications

Good understanding of end-to-end Supply Chain that has high velocity and complexity
MBA in Operations/Supply Chain or Business/Finance
Experience within a large 3PL company, or managing 3PLs in a large corporation
Fast learner who is adaptive to quickly changing business conditions
Someone who loves to challenge themselves on every single day!
