Job description
POSITION SUMMARY;
The Program Management function is responsible for the planning, organizing and managing of key strategic programs to bring about the successful completion of specific GES CIO project goals and objectives in a matrixed resource environment. The Program Manager provides leadership over all aspects of key strategic programs from the planning phase through deployment into production. The functional groups that the Program Manager influences and partners with may include but are not limited to Development, Product Management, Service, Implementation, Infrastructure and IT Support.


This is a strategic position that works under consultative direction of the VP Product Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Areas of responsibility include:
Program & Portfolio Governance - defining/clarifying the roles and responsibilities, and providing oversight as needed
Management - Oversight and reporting for all projects with regard as how they pertain to the overall program
Financial Management - Adhering and enforcing the financial aspects of the project, controlling spend, working with finance partners and providing all reporting to finance
Planning - preparation and oversight of program plan - tracking and reporting on deliverables and activities at all levels


Detailed Responsibilities:
Manage program activities for multiple projects across all project phases, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control and closure.
Work collaboratively with product, development, business, and finance teams
Create, manage and track project vehicles, including, but not limited to:
Project schedules
Detailed project plans
Project scope statements
Cost estimates
Resource plans
Risk and issues logs
Status reports
Resource time tracking
Financial Reconciliations
Tailor processes to meet the needs of individual projects.
Manage the day-to-day activities of projects and staff; communicate with project teams as necessary to ensure project deliverables are on schedule and within cost parameters.
Communicate and collaborate with partners as needed in regards to project deliverables including managing expectations, and status reporting..
Make recommendations to management about schedules, prioritization and resource allocation with input from team members.
Provide ongoing project and financial plan/status reporting.
Manage resource planning and organizational capacity planning.

Experience, Skills, Academic:
Qualifications:

1. Education:
Bachelor of Science in engineering, computer science or management science is required. Formal certification in project management and process management is desirable. A Masters in Computer Science or MBA is preferred. (or equivalent in education and experience)

2. Experience:
15+ years of software development, process engineering, and project management experience, operating in functional and matrixed organizations is required.

3. Generic Skills:
Capability and proficiency to utilize technology and process which develop business solutions to complex development and systems efforts.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
Full knowledge and capability to use industry standard project and process management techniques, coupled with facilitation and people management principles and techniques. Cross-functional team leadership essential.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to tailor communications to fit the audience, is key.
Ability to lead a diverse group of individuals to reach a common goal is expected.
