The Role
a) Financial
•J&B is an integrated business with £40m NSV, 4000 active customers in 20 different locations and over 4000 SKUs;
•J&B is a separate statutory entity;
•J&B runs a bespoke ERP and accounting systems with high degree of manual interventions;
b) Market Complexity
The Fine Wine market is complex as it is global, agricultural and speculative at the same time
The organisation structure and culture needed to be successful in Luxury and with ~20% GM is very different from the challenges faced in Diageo
This role needs to manage these challenges and lead teams in disparate places (central London, London outskirts, Hong Kong & Bordeaux)
c) Leadership Responsibilities
•Key to this role will be working with the J&B MD to ensure the J&B Exco is working at an optimal level and to ensure the culture and organisational rhythm of the business are set to support the strategy;
•It is essential to be able to act cross-functionally and to develop and maintain close relationships across the business;
•Maintaining a strong relationship with Diageo Europe and central functions is a vital part of this role. The Finance & Operations Director will need highly effective communication skills to ensure key internal stakeholders have a clear and concise view of business performance, strategic direction and existing issues.
•Managing a team of 21 people;
Top Accountabilities
• Lead and manage all aspects of Finance and Operations in the fully integrated company
• Lead and manage all aspects of Business Performance Management with the J&B Exco, Diageo GB and Diageo Europe.
• Lead and manage and champion the Controls, Compliance and Ethics agenda for J&B
Qualifications And Experience Required
• Track record of leading and managing Finance in an integrated company
• A commercial understanding of the Fine Wine industry ideal but not necessary
• Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, etc.) with at least 7 years PQE
