Job Description:
Skanska Infrastructure Services (IS) are currently looking to appoint a Project Director within the Projects Sector working on a pipeline of opportunities, some secured and others that will require the operational support of an experienced Project Director to secure.
This is an ideal opportunity to be involved in a fast moving and challenging environment that rewards success.
Role Profile
Set a positive example of the company, through "Values and Behaviours"
Act as a role model to the team to ensure these "Values and Behaviours" are embedded throughout the project
Drive the Successful delivery of Projects in accordance with the Company's Procedures, Management Systems and Performance Targets
Create and Build suitably experienced Project teams for the benefit of the Company and the Project
Support the Directors and the Board to build the Business in accordance with the "Strategy Plan"
Lead the development of Client and Supply Chain Relationships
Principal Duties & Accountabilities
Establish the Project Execution Plan and set up the project organisation for its implementation
Create and develop successful project teams
Manage, supervise, train and mentor the project team to enable them to optimise their work contribution
Set targets to measure performance, and drive continuous improvement
Deliver performance in accordance with targets and procedures
Manage the process in a manner which enhances the reputation of the company and increases prospects for future work
Develop potential future work opportunities through relationships with clients, suppliers and members of the construction community
Keep abreast of developments in professional field
Implement a improvement process on the project to identify best practice, implement improvements, gather and feedback knowledge and inform the team how knowledge may be accessed
Adherence to Skanska policies and procedures, including formal appointments as required
Essential
Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject
Or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
Understanding of Engineering Principles
Knowledge and Understanding of construction contract law and forms of contract through experience and formal training.
Extensive Technical knowledge and experience of construction techniques and best practices
Understanding of procurement, financing and accounting processes and procedures.
Articulate with good verbal, written and graphic communication skills
Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system, Primavera software)
Relevant CSCS Card
Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management
Desirable
Degree in Civil Engineering
MICE
Vocational Training (successful experience at Project Manager)

People Leadership – The Project team is large and diverse, so therefore it is imperative the Project Lead creates high morale and spirit in his team and establishes a climate and culture of trust.
Communication & Self-management – Major and complex issues are communicated effectively, upstream to Clients team and downstream to Project team, makes the complicated understandable.
Change Management – Clear understanding of scope and contractual requirements and is prepared to work closely with the commercial team in order to manage change and protect our position.
Planning & Programming – Understands and manages the Project Program and understands impact of delay on cost and value and can work closely with the project team to generate measures to mitigate.
Results Driven – From a commercial perspective, very bottom-line oriented and constantly pushing himself and others for results.
Managing SHEQ – Communicates a compelling and inspired SHEQ vision and acts as a role model for others in demonstrating Skanska’s values and behaviour.
