Department Overview
Symantec Hosted Services leverageSymantec infrastructure to deliver subscription-based services online. There'sno software for customers to install and no upgrades to manage. All offeringsare ‘multi-tenant', meaning a single instance of the offering is used by allcustomers at the same time. Symantec’s Hosted Services includeSymantec Protection Network - our software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform forproviding Symantec technologies to customers in the cloud as online services. DeepSight Early Warning Services provides actionable securityintelligence to customers using alerts and notifications based on data feedsfrom the Global Intelligence Network.
We require an experienced and skilled technicalauthor to produce documentation such as instructional, reference, andconceptual information in a variety of formats for the assistance and guidanceof the full range of users and partners of Symantec .cloud services.

Responsibilities
• To gain an understanding ofInternet and Symantec.cloud technologies and interfaces.
• To research and gather information to understandthe systems and applications for which documentation is required.
• To identify documentation requirements in line withdevelopment projects and to plan and schedule the work needed.
• To write and edit content using a contentmanagement system and associated authoring tools.
• To publish content in a variety of formats,including online help and PDF.
• To work with localisation team to provide localisedcontent.
• To communicate and collaborate with appropriatecolleagues globally to ensure successful completion of project-based and otherwork.
• To complete any other appropriate documentationwork as directed by your manager.

Qualifications
Required Experience:
• At least three years experience as a technicalauthor.
• Degree level qualification in technicalcommunications preferred.
• Experience of working within an XML-based environment,preferably with a content management system.
• Experience Microsoft Office products.
• Experience of HTML, CSS, and producing web-basedonline deliverables.
• Good communication skills to gather informationfrom developers and others.
• Planning, running, and managing multipledocumentation projects simultaneously.
Required Skills:
• An eye for detail, and a thorough, well-organized,analytical, and methodical approach.
• The ability to multitask to deliver to deadlineswhilst maintaining high quality.
• Team-working skills.
• A clear and concise writing style for a variety ofaudiences.
• A flair for turning technical subjects and jargoninto easily understood and well structured content.
• The ability to absorb information quickly.
