Job description

Purpose
To provide support to the sales team by providing in-depth technical knowledge of payment processes and services, as well as providing consultancy services to clients with respect to implementing and configuring CyberSource products.

Principle Responsibilities/Key Results Area
Develop in-depth knowledge of CyberSource products through research and testing in order to act as subject matter expert with prospective customers.
Take a proactive approach to staying up-to-date with product developments by monitoring code release notes and knowledge sharing within the team.
Provide technical pre-sales support by accompanying sales team to meetings with prospects. This would typically involve giving presentations to prospective and existing clients, providing product demonstrations, and using whiteboard sessions, all with a focus on maintaining a sales-oriented approach.
Provide proposal support to the sales team, completing the technical and functional sections of RFI and RFP documents..
Write small internal computer applications to provide proof-of-concept ideas, to test CyberSource products, and to troubleshoot client issues by providing assistance to the CyberSource support team.
Deliver training sessions to colleagues and clients on the use of CyberSource products.
Deliver professional services to clients (eg. business process re-engineering; configuration of anti-fraud tools) which may involve producing clear documentation.

Strategic Nature, Mgmt Accountability, & Scope
Responsible for activities of functional area without direct reports.
Role is key to executing CyberSource’s business strategy in the region, ensuring that sales team are properly supported and able to close deals and that professional services revenue targets are met.

Decision Making & Complexity
Independent decision making required on daily basis.
Complex and varied workload, required to support multiple ongoing sales processes (in person, by phone, by email) and professional services engagements.

Financial & Organizational Scope
Individual contributor working within a global team of Sales Engineers and Professional Services Consultants, all working as individual contributors supporting sales teams in their respective regions.
No responsibility for a budget or cost centre.

Reporting Relationships & Interactions
This role reports to the EMEA Sales Engineering and Professional Services Director, currently based in Reading, UK.
This individual will be expected to interact effectively with colleagues of a similar level, and all levels of management within customer organisations.

Key Competencies
Ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear and articulate fashion to both technical and non-technical audiences, in a sales-oriented manner.
Ability to write basic code in a mainstream language such as Java, .Net, ASP or PHP.
Ability to work independently on customer sites with minimal supervision

Qualifications

Required Experience (education, skills - professional/technical/business)
Bachelor degree in Finance, Business, Science, Engineering or Computing
Minimum of two years experience working as a sales engineer (pre-sales) in a technical environment
Experience of regularly giving presentations to customers in a sales environment
Experience of working alongside a sales team, supporting them to help win new business.

Preferred Experience (education, skills - professional/technical/business)
Experience of working in the payments industry, preferably ecommerce
Experience of delivering paid consultancy or professionals services to clients
Language skills appropriate to region.
