Job Title: Principal Consultant / Principal

CST is seeking an experienced, self-motivated professional to join our Data Centre consultancy practice for EMEA to deliver the best in class services to our corporate clients.

Description & Responsibilities:

A senior subject matter expert and consultant for Data Centre, Application Migration and Critical System Facility based projects, contribution to business development and development of firm IP. The role will primarily demand:

· Leadership
o Provide SME thought leadership to our clients
o Promote excellent project delivery
o Promote global consistency of delivery across all projects
o Structure and lead application migration programs from content perspective
o Infrastructure architecture leader

· Staff Management
o Management of staffing pipeline
o Responsibility for staff development & training
o Scope development & resource estimation for project delivery

· Product & Service Proposition Development
o Business management & product development
o Participate in the development of the high reliability engineering practice through product development, research of new technologies and further refinement of company processes and procedures

· Commercial
o Define deliverables for client projects, including requirements definition reports, RFP's, budgets and bid analysis reports
o Fiscal accountability for project delivery
o Maintain a solid understanding of the Data Centre, co-location and hosting, cloud compute markets in EMEA and globally.
o Cost comparison / cost modeling
o Strategic ROI Planning
o Project and program profitability
o Risk-element pricing
o DC Modeling
o Product and service development and pricing

· Consultancy
o Development of conceptual data centre facility requirements
o Assessment of facility capacity / resiliency impact resulting from changing it requirements
o Provide client-driven and internal deliverable documentation as it relates to the specific scope and needs of each project
o Recommendations with respect to systems selection, sizing, location, and operations
o High-level financial analysis considering resiliency and capacity objectives
o On-site construction management as assigned
o Expert market knowledge of Proprietary Data Centre and outsourced models (Dedicated Physical, Dedicated Virtual, Private Cloud, Virtual Private Cloud and Public Cloud).

· Teamwork
o Coordinate and communicate with project managers and other team members with respect to project status and performance
o Monitor project work to maintain schedule, budget and compliance to contract

As a lead consultant the role also encompasses responsibilities for business generation and account management. These additional responsibilities include:

o Product and service development thought leadership
o Account and relationship management
o Sales lifecycle support – from lead to engagement
o Industry engagement to maintain currency and visibility
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience & Qualifications:
· Education
o Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from accredited university required; Master’s degree in a field of relevance preferred

· Characteristics:
o Typically a senior manager within the CST organisation
o Advisor to senior management – C Level
o Solves business challenges, initiates change within an organisation
o Generates significant new revenue opportunities
o Significant functional responsibilities for developing the CST business
o Excellent leadership and mentoring skills
o Superior verbal and written communication skills at all levels within client or CST organisation
o Highly developed time management skills, and be able to work in a multi-threaded, fast-paced environment
o Ability to effectively market CST and to generate revenue through supplemental work or new opportunities within existing or new clients
o Ability to publish white papers and/or speak at industry-related events

o Thought leader within the Data Centre practice
o Ability to take ownership of issue analysis and resolution efforts and commitment to resolve technical issues regardless of the effort or timeframe required

o Understanding and demonstrable track record of delivering within a structured project management framework
o Extensive experience of working on multiple change programs involving the management of multiple matrixed teams and C-level stakeholder management.

o Expert grasp of Uptime Institute tiering criteria
o Data Centre design experience
o Developing detailed analytical reports and documentation
o Familiarity with emerging technologies & their potential impact
o Assist in the designing of support process architectures for critical business systems
o Expert grasp of current and legacy application support requirements
o Extensive Application and Data Centre migration experience
o Global Data Centre Strategy development
o 10+ years experience in design and analysis of data centre specific systems
o Developing detailed analytical reports and documentation
o Ability to review specific facility documentation (electrical one lines, mechanical flow diagrams, etc.) And elicit the salient points
o Assist in the designing of support process architectures for critical business systems

· Consulting
o Consulting background with an engineering or technology professional services entity
o Commercial experience, including new construction and retrofits of existing facilities
o Ability to effectively engage and communicate with clients at senior levels

· Flexibility
o Ability to travel (UK, Europe, ME and the US)
o High levels of discretionary contribution would be expected
