Job Purpose

As part of PokerStars’ strategy to provide the best poker experience across many platforms, PokerStars is developing social poker gaming applications. This will not only enable consumers to enjoy many of the benefits of playing on its desktop and mobile clients, but also offer a more socially immersive experience and the ability to purchase play money chips. This new product is an important development for PokerStars and brings new opportunities for a new player experience, increased revenue and increased customer acquisition.

Working closely with our COO, the Director of Social Gaming will oversee the overall product development, marketing, P&L and day-to-day management of our social gaming offering. The marketing of this product will include acquiring customers, engaging them to become loyal users, up-selling them to purchase play money chips and cross-selling them to our “real money” desktop and mobile games. This is an important position, which will be rewarding and appealing for the right commercial professional who will be attracted by the high degree of challenge and accountability.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the growth of PokerStars’ social applications, from feature concept to design, build and customer acquisition. Manage this process while ensuring commercial success
Lead the growth of PokerStars’ social app on iOS and Android
Drive high-volume new customer acquisition in the social space leveraging Facebook marketing channels and virals as well as working with existing Go-To-Market and PR teams to develop and execute on tactics as needed
Engage customers and create a large base of regular and loyal players. Optimize the choice of poker games to ensure the best range of games for play money players, and optimize the identity, community and engagement features and levers (e.g. choice of gifts, use of “hard and soft” game currencies, type of objectives and achievement levels etc.) to provide a constantly engaging and rewarding experience, particularly for new and inexperienced players
Grow revenue by selling virtual items including chips to players. Identify key prospects and develop highly targeted promotions to players to maximize the revenue per player, customizing pricing and chip bundles to maximize sales
Drive conversion of freemium players to real money gaming on desktop and mobile clients
Develop a small but potent marketing team and ensure excellent cross-group collaboration. Create a team environment that supports data-driven decisions, that fosters creativity and innovation, and that is agile, highly competitive and very results-focused
Identify any capacity and capability improvements needed within the team to grow the business, and lead the business case for increased resources, training and development as needed
Manage the Social gaming business, taking accountability for overall commercial success and adapting activity as necessary. Provide weekly updates on business performance and tactical success, with more detailed monthly reports. Lead quarterly business reviews that assess overall performance, and review customer, financial and competitive progress. Lead budgeting and target setting in line with company planning cycles
Liaise with other marketing teams, business development, PRM, development, operations and other internal teams to ensure CORE is aligned with existing PokerStars business and delivers a consistently great poker experience to our players

Strong experience and knowledge of social gaming best practices
Knowledge/experience in monetising social games
Strong leadership skills, coupled with a hands-on management style
Creating and managing a highly agile team that constantly refines and improves its products
Excellent people management skills of both immediate and virtual teams
Knowledge on how to optimize digital marketing
A genuine passion, interest and experience in free to play gaming, online and offline
Strong organizational agility, and comfort in managing across a matrixed organization
International experience and experience in marketing to different markets, audiences and cultures
Enhancing/extending a brand on an international scale, with a keen understanding of the principles of branding, messaging and communications in a highly competitive gaming market
Online buzz marketing, customer acquisition and loyalty marketing.
