Vice President of Engineering
Location: Edinburgh or Dundee, Scotland
The VP of Engineering is a highly visible and influential role, responsible for the company’s product development activities. This role is a key contributor to achieving the company’s near-term and long-term objectives. The VP of Engineering has responsibility for leading the engineering function; from working with the Leadership Team to create the product roadmap and driving the development teams to delivering product solutions that will be highly successful in the market place.
You will work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities successfully as well as multiple stakeholders is essential. This position calls for an innovative, enthusiastic and talented technology professional with outstanding technical, leadership and relationship management skills. Other important factors for success include the ability to manage multiple teams across multiple locations to deliver a shared vision and to inspire effective collaboration and team-working.

Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
Extensive experience of hands-on technical and full software life-cycle development experience, including experience in Agile/Scrum environments
Substantial experience of software and product leadership; including broad-based experience with standard and emerging web and back-end technologies, including databases and development languages
Demonstrable ability to build and effectively lead a large development team
Ability to develop product functional and architecture specifications into an organized and realistic project development plan
Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, with proven ability to lead, motivate and mentor a diverse group of distributed engineers and collaborate effectively with other functions within the company.
Experience working across multiple geographic locations and thrive in cross cultural work environments
Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, financial, sales, and marketing as related to product design and development
Strong technical credentials that will command immediate respect in the organisation, in particular in the areas of high volume transaction systems, large databases (both SQL and non-SQL), scaling backend systems, data collection and analytics
Knows how to foster team's creativity and innovation while maintaining laser focus on delivery
Experience working with product management and marketing teams on roadmap development and product management
The ability to stay up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise and the industry
Must demonstrate accountability, sound decision making, and analytical thoroughness
