Job Description

The Director Will
Play a leading role in developing the Economics and Disputes’ Fiscal and Government Affairs practice.
Be partly responsible for shaping the Fiscal and Government Affairs practice and market our service offerings by building on existing internal/external networks and developing new client relationships.
Support clients on developing strategies to engage with public sector authorities on highly specific issues involving complex economic concepts.

Lead client engagements (subject to appropriate accreditation)and ensure delivery of these projects to the standards required to withstand internal and external risk and legal challenge.
Possess proficiency and experience in presenting to senior client team members and conveying messages accurately and concisely. This may also require preparing and delivering presentations, under tight deadlines, to senior government officials to help clients in their engagement strategy.
Develop proposals for new business development opportunities. This may require collaborating with KPMG’s Audit and Tax practices to develop and package a multi-disciplinary offering to meet client requirements.
Manage a team of multi-disciplinary consultants to assist clients in solving a range of complex business and economic issues. This will require mentoring and coaching of team members to contribute to their personal growth and knowledge.
Proactively manage and provide guidance and professional development to the wider team.
Manage project resources, timelines and budgets to ensure that projects for a range of clients are delivered: i) with the appropriate internal resources, ii) within the stipulated project timelines; and iii) all whilst meeting budget constraints.
Promote KPMG’s experience through various means such as internal/external marketing, publications, and organising conferences.
The role may involve a significant amount of travel within the UK and abroad and will require a great degree of flexibility to meet tight budgets and timelines.

Qualifications And Skills

Extensive related experience at audit, tax, and/or advisory firm, professional services firm, or think tank, coupled with experience with public sector agencies and corporations requiring analytical support in areas such as econometric modelling, statistical analysis, and economic impact analysis.
An undergraduate degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics from an accredited college/university and/or relevant professional designation.
A 1st or 2:1 (or equivalent) in your undergraduate degree
A postgraduate degree in a related field with a focus on public policy, industrial organisations and quantitative techniques.
A high degree of enthusiasm, drive and resilience particularly during challenging times, being innovative, demonstrating self-curiosity, and paying great attention to detail.
Strong foundation in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to translate research findings into clear, concise and actionable results.
• A track record of developing new business.
