Job Description
We are looking to expand our technology leadership team with the appointment of an Application & Product Development Director. This is a key role as part of a new leadership team that will work with the CIO to develop and implement a new vision and strategy for the technology services business that offers personal growth opportunities as the business starts to achieve its growth plans.
Your role as Application & Product Development Director will be responsible for leading the design and build of Charles Taylor’s consulting products and applications, from a design to delivery lifecycle. You and your team will be responsible for taking the CTO’s vision and architecture and turning it in to a reality for both your external and internal clients.
Responsibilities
Interfacing, pitching and selling of new applications and products to clients
Using detailed knowledge of systems and applications to advise clients on their current/future needs and wants from technology
Liaise with CTO in the creation of new technology products for the insurance market, including proof of concept etc.
The design, build and testing of new applications and concepts created by the CTO and Architect.
The management of a team of c100 FTE – both on and offshore
Creating a unique team of technology specialists including the utilisation and development of in-house technology capability around design, development and testing
Contribute to the overall vision of new platforms, identifying potential innovations that will interest users and drive value for clients
Produce mock-ups/prototypes for proposed design concepts, and iterate those designs with all stakeholders/clients
Manage the design team to ensure designs meet the needs of our global user base, including profiling
Understand the constraints imposed by underlying technologies and processes, and ensure designs accommodate those constraints or recommend new technologies that can be sold to/adopted by the client
Work with our development partners to understand the complexity of the build and ensure that return on investment is optimised
Manage the advance of design concepts into full functional specifications for build by your development team

Experience:
Previous experience of working in a management consulting and sales environment, such as a Systems Integrator or technology consultancy, in a management role within development
Ability and experience in reporting to senior management teams (both clients and internally)
Previous experience in the development and implementation of analytics and BPM products would be advantageous
Knowledge and understanding of all new and current technologies; Cloud, Hadoop, UX/UI/UCD (wireframing and prototyping tools) etc.
Extensive background in managing and working in Agile environments
Previous experience in managing teams of developers and designers both on and off shore
Proven ability to design and deliver innovative software offering value for consulting clients
Experience of software design for a complex business workflow application
A deep understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
