Job Description
This role sits within the London Financial Crime Compliance AML Group and will take the lead on AML investigations in the UK and across the broader EMEA region. Reporting in to Director, Controls, Surveillance and Investigations, the role have a number of direct reports.
The incumbent will be responsible for management of investigations arising from account surveillance, monitoring of control functions and investigations, particularly in relation to Transaction Monitoring, adverse media alerts identified through the CL Search function and internal Suspicious Activity Reports.

Working under the supervision and guidance of the UK MLRO/Nominated Officer, this will include an assessment of the circumstances of alerts and reports of suspicion to determine whether there is an obligation for external reporting and may include formerly acting with delegated under the delegated authority of the MLRO and/or Nominated Officer.

This Is a Supervisory Role, But Will Include Some Investigative Work, Requiring The Ability To Conduct And Review Research And Analysis To Determine Whether Circumstances Fall Within Defined Criteria, Particularly The Threshold For Statutory Reporting And To Communicate The Results Of These Enquiries, Verbally And In Writing. Day To Day Work Will Include Providing Supervision And Guidance Of a Team Made Up Of Various Skill-sets And Experience, Including At Least One VP, a Number Of AVPs And ENOs, And May Include


Providing advice and guidance on Financial Crime risk, particularly money laundering and terrorist financing to the business, the wider FCC Team and other areas and control functions within the bank;
Undertaking evaluation of the product from Transaction Monitoring alerts;
Supervising the conduct of Periodic and Event-Driven Reviews of client accounts;
Managing Quality Assurance Reviews across key elements of the Bank’s Financial Crime Compliance Programme, such as Third Party Payments and Client Onboarding standards for business booking into London;
Identifying, assessing and managing Financial Crime policy breaches;
Acting as an escalation point for issues from the team, the business and the wider EMEA Region;
Managing and on occasion, personally undertaking complex and sensitive enquiries;
Creating and delivering related training to the business and other interested parties;
Representing Controls, Surveillance and Investigations in facing off to stakeholders, control functions and external parties such as law enforcement and regulators.
Educated to degree level or equivalent (desired but not essential)
Diploma/Certificate in AML or Financial Crime (desired but not essential)
Excellent relevant experience, with recent knowledge of working in a banking;
Proven history of management of complex and/or sensitive issues;
Experience of leading and directing the efforts of a small team;
Able to mentor, lead by example and competent in the management of Financial Crime;
People management/project management experience.
Excellent analytical skills and competent to assess Financial Crime risk;
Thorough knowledge of FCC laws, regulation and best practice;
Thorough understanding of complex client structures and Financial Crime red flags;
Excellent knowledge of the different business lines and their products;
Ability to conduct research and use findings to compose and deliver complex reports.
