Job Description:
SPT has an opening for a Director of Television Business Development in London.
This role will have the opportunity to apply business and financial expertise to the international television industry and SPT’s growing portfolio of digital businesses, and contribute to SPT’s strategic direction. The position will support and work directly with the EVP Western Europe and SVP CEEMA located in London and will report to the VP of Television Business Development located in Los Angeles.
Key Responsibilities

The Director of Television Business Development will be involved in business and corporate development initiatives such as identifying growth opportunities throughout EMEA and evaluating transactions such as merger and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances and corporate investments from a strategic and financial perspective.

Specific responsibilities of this role will include:
Proactively identify opportunities within the market for growth & recommend investments based on understanding of business’s strategic priorities.
Develop and manage detailed financial analyses and deal approval presentations for new business launches, acquisitions or divestitures. Closely cooperate with SPT executives during negotiations
Evaluate growth initiatives in the television industry and support the regions Pay TV, Free TV and Digital strategic expansion projects
Prepare business plans and presentations, and provide recommendations as to the financial opportunity and strategic fit with Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE's) objectives
Perform financial due diligence into potential acquisition targets, including detailed review of financial statements and risk analysis
Work with internal personnel and external legal and financial advisors in structuring transactions such as corporate investments, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and financings in the television and digital media industry
Build strong relationships with senior executives as well as finance and operating executives in the U.S. and around EMEA.
Travel 20%-30%


Suitbable candidates for this role will meet the following criteria:
Typically 5+ years business experience in consulting, investment banking or corporate / business development
Requires experience in the media and entertainment industry (preferred television and/or digital media) and an understanding of cable pay television and digital media business models (Essential)
Knowledge and relationships within the EMEA markets, with an ability to tap into theTV Networks business community to access research/market intelligence.
MBA strongly preferred (B.A./B.S. required)
Strong financial analysis skills; experience in valuation and/or investment analyses
Exceptional communication and presentation skills
Strong understanding of business operations
Demonstrated understanding of financial reporting and accounting
Proven self starter and independent problem-solving ability with sense to understand implications of work and probe more deeply when presented with inconsistent or interesting findings
Proven ability to manage projects from beginning to completion, ‘can-do’ attitude
Foreign language skills beneficial
