The Director of Group Finance is a high profile and influential role and has regular contact with the CEO, CFO, Board Directors and Finance Directors. The role sets best practice financial policies, procedures and controls for the Group and influences strategic decisions by providing accurate, timely and insightful management information and analysis, including all consolidated management and statutory reporting across the BBC Worldwide Group. The role additionally manages the Group Financial Planning & Analysis activities (including budgeting, forecasting and five-year plan). The Director of Group Finance is also responsible for the provision of advice on technical accounting issues and major non-routine transactions and ensures robust financial control across the business.

The Director of Group Finance is a pivotal role requiring excellent leadership skills, a collaborative approach and the ability to achieve results through influencing and networking. The role also requires an excellent understanding of the commercial impacts of accounting decisions across a complex multinational group undergoing rapid change. Responsible for a team of c.30 individuals, the role requires extensive people management experience.

Professional qualification in finance or accountancy with extensive PQE
Experience in a senior management role is essential
Experience in a consumer-facing business is essential
Experience of resolving technical accounting issues in a commercial manner is essential
Experience of dealing with plc style accounts and annual review is essential
Demonstrable experience of coaching and developing staff, with a genuine interest in career development
Experience of developing and implementing process improvements in a complex reporting structure is a requirement
Media sector experience is desirable
Experience of leading, or managing the audit of, a Sarbanes-Oxley or similar compliance project is desirable
