Job Description:
Person coming in will be Director for implementing Markit EDM (Enterprise Data Manager) within the organization. Markit EDM acts as a hub to manage the acquisition, validation, mastering, storage and distribution of data in a consistent, fully-audited environment. The role requires good understanding of the financial domain, ability to work closely with business and be their trusted partner, work with multiple businesses and manage their priorities and allocation of team resources. It will require understanding EDM capability deeply so that the individual is the go-to person for any escalations.
Suitable candidate will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, delivery and success of multiple projects across multiple business areas. The person will have a strategic bent of mind and is able to chart a multi-year course of leveraging EDM with-in Markit. The person will assess when EDM is the right solution for new opportunities and will be the chief advocate for using EDM. This particular role is for a person who has good understanding of Database and Capital Markets. The person should also be good in handling people and managing calm under stress. The person needs to have a commercial mind set and ensure that we are always thinking of the best Return on Investment for the effort involved. This along with an open mind, a can-do attitude, smooth communication skills and ability to motivate the team members to newer successes will set this individual apart.
Duties & Accountabilities
Understanding, planning and delivering on the key milestones of various EDM projects in the pipeline. Trusted technology partner of the business. Strong advocate of EDM capability and actively participate in new areas where EDM could be the right technology solution. Manage team and ensure that members are highly motivated. Work with globally dispersed teams and ensure that there is proper transparency and coordination. Manage staff training plans and mentor direct reports for career development. Conduct quarterly and annual employee reviews for direct reports. Recruit and interview new employees. Commercial mind set to ensure that we are spending effort in the right areas. Communication and convincing ability to ensure that the point of view is understood.
Business Competencies
Education and experience
Demonstrated expertise at supporting multiple applications. Strong technical and platform knowledge, including some or all of Management & Collaboration Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, JIRA, Confluence Domain knowledge Good understanding of capital markets Scripting and scheduling technologies Shell script, Tidal, Autosys Release Management SVN, Jenkins/Hudson, Ant, Maven Databases Servers Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, OS / Environment Windows, Unix RHEL Formal training and/or certification in any of these tools and technologies will be a plus. Excellent problem solving skills and disciplined, engineering oriented mind set. Extensive experience developing commercial products, web applications, or services used by external customers. Extensive experience managing employees and projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Degree in Computer Science or related field.
