Job Description:
The Senior Director will be a critical player in delivery of Audible’s vision for shorter, non-audiobook content for our customers in the United Kingdom and our pilot/prototype-driven approach to testing and learning in a rapidly growing and fast-moving environment. The Senior Director will work with the Senior Vice President, Original Content Development, to drive the programming of shorter, non-audiobook content as well as defining the sound and voice of this content.
The Senior Director will lead the identification of appropriate content for licensing and target genres and formats for additional original short-form programming. Additionally, the Senior Director will help articulate and oversee production standards and best practices, mentor producer and host talent, and set and help meet success targets. Teams focused on original content development and short-form content licensing will report to this position.
This job will be based out of Audible’s London office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with the Senior Vice President, Original Content Development, the Senior Director will implement the programming vision and articulate the “voice” of short-form programming for UK customers.
· Works “hands-on” with UK original content staff, content providers and licensed-content partners to ensure consistent sound, tone, and character for short-form productions and content streams.
Commission new UK-based programs as well as infuse exceptionalism into projects.
· Define and manage project roadmaps, setting expectations with all relevant stakeholders including the SVP and other senior leadership.
Oversees editorial planning of Audible short-form offering in the UK and its programs, theme selection, and recommending additional contributors and talent.
Reviews content, quality and production of program segments to ensure consistency with standards and practices of Audible Original Content Development.
· Collaborates on budget development and implements approved budget for projects, making changes as necessary to meet financial goals.
· Cultivate relationships with prospective talent and partners.
· Leverage data/analytics/user testing to inform decisions.
· Coordinates aspects of post-production program distribution.
· Have a voice in guiding Audible’s investments in new projects, stories, ideas, and voices.
· Other duties as reasonably required.
Vast experience in audio production with increasing responsibility, including project and staff management.
Demonstrated experience with successful strategic planning and strategic plan implementation.
Deep experience defining and articulating standards for sound and tone of audio services or streams.
Exceptional editing skills.
A knowledge and/or understanding of digital listening applications, mobile, and innovative new audio platforms.
Familiarity with a wide range of subject areas such as news, history, literature, business, comedy, science, entertainment, and arts.
Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss production concepts with production and non-production employees.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience in new project and program launches.
Demonstrated digital editing ability.
Understanding of journalism ethics.
