Amazon is looking for a smart, enthusiastic, hard-working, and customer focused candidate to join the Global Vendor Management team as a Business Development Manager supporting the growth of our Amazon.in softlines business. We are seeking a customer-obsessed individual with strong business development skills to build collaborative relationships with vendors and vendor management teams across Amazon retail country websites with the specific aim of helping to expand relationships to India.
They will work with priority vendors and categories, the GVM team and other marketplace teams to deliver increases in assortment at great prices for Amazon's customers in India. This person will work with our operations teams to help bring the product to India in the most efficient manner and will also manage selected vendor relationships on a daily basis.
A successful candidate can work productively across different countries to deliver results in India and even to help the other marketplaces as well. This person loves working with others - both internal colleagues and vendors - to develop and deliver increased sales with improved terms. Others will enjoy working with this individual to deliver significant growth. He/She can partner with internal and external stakeholders to understand the challenges and business needs and identify solutions to help drive the business. In addition to partnering one-on-one with internal vendor teams and external vendors, this individual will work well with others to provide input to deliver efficient processes that are scalable and automated where possible.
Candidate should have relevant softlines experience and an understanding of the global fashion business.
The successful candidate will be highly collaborative, globally minded and have an extremely high level of customer focus, cultural sensitivity and a passion for process improvement and developing partnerships. You should be a motivated self-starter that can work both independently and with others in a fast paced, ambiguous environment in different cultures. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work across countries and markets and with business owners to define and deliver improvements in selection and vendor relations.
As a member of the Global Vendor Management team, they will play an integral part in our overall Global Vendor program by successfully partnering with India Softlines retail teams to support their business initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with country vendor teams to understand category and customer opportunities for India. Identify opportunities to leverage strengths in developed countries to help India
· Lead efforts for target list vendors. This includes developing and delivering strong collaborative relationships internally and externally. Secure partnerships and deliver increased selection for India.
· Partner with the GVM BDMs to prioritize efforts and responsibilities
- Partner with internal and vendor teams to secure selection with direct import programs for India
- Provide input on the design and validation of new systems and functionality to enable these processes.
Basic Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have: Proven business experience, Fashion Buying experience, an advanced degree, strong business development and program management skills, excellent vendor management capabilities, a good business sense, and persuasive oral/written communication skills. A solid team player able to work across countries and organizations successfully. Adept at working with different systems and making recommendations on improvements for both systems and processes. Experience working cross-functionally and across countries to deliver improvements in vendor inputs and process improvements to drive business results and stronger vendor management.
