Associate Directors own a portfolio of clients and are seen as the expert in their field. They lead and steer client services and the delivery of innovative solutions by bringing together multi-disciplinary teams to tackle some of our most complex client challenges. As an Associate Director, you will develop long term relationships with your clients, actively contribute to the eminence of our practice by external knowledge sharing and investing time in business development, and have a focus on the stewardship of our people and the practice.

You will also be supported in deepening your own technical specialism, widening your cross service line and industry or market knowledge, and continuing to develop your stewardship skills.

The Associate Director role will support our work with asset managers including private equity, hedge funds, real estate, infrastructure and retail asset managers. You will work within larger client service teams, managing a portfolio of high profile projects. You will advise your clients on the tax structuring of equity and remuneration planning for their senior management teams, whilst developing your own client relationships and developing more junior team members, with the full support of more senior team members focused on your development and progression.

Responsibilities:

Advising on a broad array of issues relating to the advisor/manager of private equity, real estate, infrastructure or hedge fund ranging from structuring performance fees, carried interest and co-investment plans for UK and non-UK resident executives to restructuring the entire business

The design and implementation of global and UK tax efficient, regulatory compliant remuneration, ensuring that the plan designs are aligned to the wider business objectives of the organisation

Providing bespoke tax planning advice around deferrals and long-term incentives;

Assisting clients with complex employment taxes enquiries and dealing with HMRC on their behalf

Researching a wide range of tax issues

Benefiting from client exposure and learning from the top practitioners in the field, you will be involved in client meetings and encouraged to lead where appropriate.

Requirements

Successful applicants will be/have:

Communication skills

Ability to build strong client relationships
Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
Ability to communicate complex ideas, both written and oral, in a pragmatic and articulate way
Ability to produce high quality, client facing, technically accurate, well written work
Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment rapidly and to respond to clients appropriately in this context
Technical skills

Full appreciation of current tax legislation, preferably qualified ACA or CTA, or equivalent qualification or experience
Strong technical ability surrounding the legislation and case law
Numerate with keen attention to detail
Appetite for learning and developing on the job
Willingness to learn and deal with new ideas and technical areas
Technical experience of working with private equity funds, hedge funds, real estate funds, and/or infrastructure funds at fund level
Practical skills

Ability to plan and prioritise workload, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
Ability to take ownership and use initiative to resolve problem
Ability to exercise appropriate level of judgement
Management skills

Excellent team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
Experience of leadership and delegation
