This role:

owns and is accountable for Technical and Application architecture aspects of all BP’s Upstream IT&S investments
has responsibility for the definition and effective communication of the Upstream IT&S Strategy, Enterprise Architecture and Application Roadmap across the short, medium and long-term horizons: seeking input from other parts of IT&S including senior solution managers and IT&S Directors
performs Lead Design authority role relating to Upstream IT&S for all architecture aspects of major change delivery programmes across all functions within Upstream

sets and owns enterprise standards for Upstream IT&S through Upstream’s Design Authority Board
Develops and maintains strategic metrics which can be used to measure progress against the architecture strategy and objectives
2. Functional Architecture:

Work with IT&S and BP business leaders to define and communicate comprehensive architectures covering all commodities and locations within the scope of the function which is aligned with Upstream’s business objectives

Design and maintain the Architecture vision and roadmap – responsible for providing a consolidated strategy and roadmap from across all business units and functions within Upstream
Develop and maintain strategic metrics which can be used to measure progress against the Architecture strategy and objectives
Determine the most appropriate architecture ensuring global consistency and operational efficiency whilst supporting group Functional, Security and Information Architecture
Develop and implement Architecture and design standards across the Upstream
Ensure that best-in-class solutions are built-in to design patterns, development methodologies across the strategic delivery programmes within Upstream
Ensure that appropriate tools and methodology standardisation choices are made to support of the Architecture strategy
Ensure that shared technical services & capabilities are developed and utilized appropriately, including those designed/developed by Business Application Services as well as those developed by other parts of BP
3. Architecture Capability:


Own the Design Authority role on the programme by leading the governance boards and forums and also raising
awareness and visibility of the technical expertise that exists within the SA&P team
Own the capability development of the Architecture community within the Upstream to make architectural decisions on projects - this will include input to training and development curriculums
Bring Architectural leadership and focus to the Upstream IT&S LT through full membership of this team
Bring Upstream leadership and focus to the SA&P IT&S LT through full membership of this team

6 Direct reports, with up to 30 reports (depending on programmes of work)

Financial Scope (budget, $ budgeted revenue/ turnover, fixed costs, Capex, no of customers):

Influence and decision rights over significant capex expenditure greater than $100m
