Job description

We are seeking a Director of Communications and Public Affairs to develop and implement a powerful communications and influencing strategy that will help achieve our goals. As the custodian of the reputation of the Legacy Corporation and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (QEOP), the successful candidate will advise the organisation about the likely reputational risk associated with strategic plans or activities, influencing decisions at the highest level. This is a full time position based in Stratford, east London.

Key accountabilities of the role:

Lead the development and oversee the implementation of an organisation-wide communications strategy that supports the achievements of LLDC’s corporate objectives.
Manage and protect the reputation of LLDC and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park through working across the executive management team to identify and assess risk, advising on likely implications of proposals and developments.
Oversee the development and implementation of an internal communications strategy.
Provide support, advice and challenge to other members of the leadership and senior leadership team in the development of their strategies.
Lead a capable, engaged and motivated Communications and Public Affairs team, seeking to continuously improve the service.

The person

We are looking for an extraordinary individual! An inspiring, creative and organised leader, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to positively influence across the organisation and partners at the most senior level.
The successful candidate must have practical, proven experience of leading a multi-disciplined communications team with expert knowledge and understanding of how to generate positive media coverage and how to deal with crisis communications, excellent judgement – particularly on issues affecting our public profile – and knowledge of impact measurement in communications.
The candidate will be an effective organiser, able to prioritise competing demands, with strong influencing and relationship skills and excellent judgement, particularly on issues affecting our public profile.
