Design Manager Honeywell - Leicester

Job Description

We are currently looking for a Design Manager for our R&D team in Leicester.

Purpose of the Job

Working closely with Marketing, Product Management, Manufacturing and Sales functions to ensure the delivery of the Gent Product Development Roadmap within agreed performance, time, cost and quality constraints using the Honeywell New Product Introduction (NPI) Process.

Effectively lead, engage and performance manage the Gent R&D Team.

This role is part of the Gent Brand Leadership team and will play a key part in developing and delivering strategy and tactics to enable Gent to achieve its financial goals.

2. Principal Responsibilities

Product Roadmap Management
• Works closely with the R&D Director, Product Management and Marketing functions to build a realistic and achievable Product Road Map that supports the medium and long term business plan. Contribute to the development of cross brand strategy and technology
• Plans and monitors project schedules and resources, and makes appropriate adjustments as necessary to stay within budget and schedules.
• Ensures that new products and changes or enhancements to existing products meet agreed cost, specification and schedule targets.
• Works closely with the Manufacturing function to deliver successful NPI pre production builds and new product launches

People Leadership
• Manages a multi-disciplined team of 10 employees.
• Responsible for setting SMART goal's and objective's and evaluating and delivering robust performance management reviews
• Drives results through inspired leadership, effective 2 way communication and accountability with a focused and disciplined approach to product development
• Identifies and supports learning and development opportunities to improve capability and productivity of the team
• Creates a positive working environment and drives improvement actions from the PER (Positive Employee relations) Survey to improve the department and site satisfaction score
• Uses appropriate recognition and reward to differentiate performance and acknowledge high performance
• Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures


Brand Leadership
• As part of the Gent brand leadership team present business updates to the HLS Systems UK & I Key Leadership Team
• Builds relationships with key customers to develop understanding of customers current and future needs through customer visits and Voice of the Customer (VOC) exercises
• Represents the R&D function at customer events through presentation, product demonstration, focus group sessions etc.

Qualifications:

Educated to a minimum of University Degree level or equivalent on an engineering discipline (preferably electronic or software engineering).
Six Sigma certification would be advantageous.
