Description:The Wells Fluids Laboratory Projects Supervisor (WFLPS) will work within the Wells Fluids Lab team reporting to the Wells Fluids Lab Manager. The WFLPS is accountable for delivery of drilling and completion fluid and formation damage laboratory projects for Technical Service Work (TSW) and Research and Development (R&D) programmes.
The Sunbury Wells Fluids Laboratory provides support to BP's Global Business Units for drilling and completion fluids assurance to optimise well construction performance and maximize well productivity. The WFLPS will be responsible for planning the laboratory projects which will involve drafting project scopes of work, scheduling of the work and resourcing within a busy laboratory environment.The WFLPS will also assist in technical support for many associated aspects of reservoir drilling and completion activities, such as, core handling and reservoir characterization, intra-reservoir shale studies to optimize wellbore stability, all aspects of optimized reservoir drilling fluid design and downhole sand control design, e.g. sand screen and gravel sizing. Demand on the team has increased over the last few years and will continue to grow due to BP focus on soft sand completions and technology developments within the Beyond Sand Control R&D Programme.
HSE awareness and leadership is paramount for this position to maintain BP HSE expectations and an excellent HSE track record.
Qualifications:
BSc.graduate preferred as a minimum.
Candidates should have previous experience in drilling and/or completion operations. Experience and awareness of reservoir drilling fluids design and formation damage mitigation would be preferred, however, it is expected that these competencies will be developed with the successful candidate in the first few years. Experience or awareness of laboratory project management would be preferred, but not expected at this stage. Experience in design of sand control completions is also beneficial although training and competency development will be given as necessary.
