Job description

The build of our fabulous new Credit Card Operation is well underway and we are now seeking dynamic, driven individuals who want to be part of this exciting venture. This is a unique opportunity to join our new cards business that has a huge part to play in our quest to build a better bank and to make our customers love us.

We are looking for a Head of Optimisation to support our Director of Business Analytics. This is an exciting opportunity where you will develop and execute a best-in-class optimisation function for Credit Card covering forward flow and back book marketing budgets. You will have ownership of NPV/IRR modelling for Card, to ensure marketing budgets are optimised for the realisation of value to Virgin Money.

Key responsibilities:

Developing and maintaining NPV/IRR models that support the financial and commercial optimisation of forward flow and back book marketing budgets.
Investigating portfolio segment opportunities and applying these to the models as a means of further optimising investment opportunities.
Developing a loopback process to ensure variances between expected and actual results can be explained and captured in the models.
Working closely with the Commercial team to develop and implement new product and pricing proposals for forward flow acquisition and back book customer value management.
Developing and sharing a deep understanding of what drives product performance and the key levers available to enhance profitability and make recommendations to improve performance based on data and insight.
Developing and sharing a deep understanding of P&L contribution over the short, medium and long term and ensuring target contribution levels align with overall company targets.
Developing a framework and models for the inclusion of a unit-based view of direct as well as marketing costs in the NPV’s.
Working closely with the Head of Planning and the Commercial team to ensure the models incorporate revenue initiatives that support achievement of the Cards plan and deliver an appropriate return on investment.
Supporting the Head of Planning with regular refreshes of NPV driver assumptions which feed the planning and forecasting models.
Partnering with the Card Operations function to develop capacity planning models.
Leading, managing and developing a team of three Business Partners.

Desired Skills and Experience

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

Extensive Credit Card experience of working within similar roles
Experience in developing and executing an Optimisation function for Credit Card
Gained an Accountancy or Finance related qualification
A sound understanding of NPV/IRR modelling.
Deep knowledge in marketing, collections, first-line risk/credit strategies and operations in the context of credit card.
A successful track record in managing a team with a passion for developing and coaching colleagues.
Knowledge of process and project tools and methodology e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, PRINCE.
Advanced knowledge of MS office tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience of the TSYS TS2 Cards platform – preferred.
A positive and engaging manner with a hands on approach.
A flair for building and managing stakeholder relationships.
The ability to negotiate and influence at a senior level.
