Job description
We are delighted to be exclusively recruiting an important position for our client, Adoption UK. Adoption UK exists to make a positive difference to the lives of adopted and other children who cannot live with their birth families. For over forty years the organisation has developed different ways to support adoptive families, through peer support, campaigning and education. The charity is very highly regarded, with services that are greatly valued by users and consecutive “Outstanding” Ofsted ratings. This is an exciting time both in the world of adoption generally and at Adoption UK specifically. A new Chief Executive is putting together a Senior Management Team to positively meet the demands and opportunities of changing legislation.

The Director of Finance and Business Support is key to the development and future success of Adoption UK. The right person will be suitably qualified to underpin the financial integrity of the organisation and will ensure the provision of both accurate and timely financial and management information. Further, he or she will be an essential part of the senior management team.

The position is full time, though part time will be considered to secure the right person.

Principle Accountabilities of the Finance Director:

To, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, take responsibility for the overall leadership of the organisation, delivering the strategy agreed by the Board of Trustees.
To support the Chief Executive and the Senior Leadership Team in planning and delivering the organisation’s business and financial strategies.
To lead the organisation’s finance and business support functions.
To take overall responsibility for the preparation of the charity’s annual budgets and forward financial plan.
To oversee the annual audit process and production of statutory accounts. To ensure that all of the organisation’s financial activities conform to relevant regulation and guidance.

This role is based in Banbury and the salary on offer is between £50k - £55k, depending on experience and qualifications.
Desired Skills and Experience
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, suitable candidates will have broad professional experience in financial management and accounting. Experience within the third sector is regarded as desirable but not essential. What is a must, is the desire and proven ability to successfully lead a finance team, demonstrating both technical accounting and managerial ability.
