Director - Financial Planning and Analysis - NBCUniversal, Inc. - London


Job description
Based in the corporate team overseeing all of NBCU’s international activities, this role reports directly to the VP Financial Planning & Analysis (VP FP&A), with the primary aim of delivering information (both financial and non-financial) to meet the needs of the NBCU-I CFO and Chairman.
Whist this role will provide a diverse array of financial support on a wide variety of topics, it will primarily interface with NBCU corporate finance in NYC as well as all the International business unit Finance teams in preparing monthly Operating reviews, Long Range Plans as well as coordinating the entire International Budget process.


Job Description Key Responsibilities

1) NBCUI FP&A -
• Support VP FP&A on a variety of matters across NBCU international (Theatrical / Home Entertainment / TV Distribution / TV Studios / TV Channels / Theme Parks / CNBC / Telemundo and Corporate) including but not limited to:
o preparation of NBCUI Strategic planning (LRP) and annual budget
o liaising with business FP&A teams to provide quarterly performance reporting for NBCUI Chairman and senior management team
o consolidating monthly pacing & reporting documents for Operating reviews with NY along with analysis of key metrics and performance vs. budget to VP
o Investigation of Risks and Opportunities and communication to senior management (i.e. FX/Hedging/Production timing/Revenue secured/Deal updates)
o Liaising with business development on deal analysis, understanding the key terms and supporting as required
o Working with Communications to deliver quarterly NBCUI Townhall / Video updates
o Providing Legal / Tax and other groups with companywide regional intelligence


2) Business Expert -
• Become the “go to” person in NBCUI FP&A team for all matters relating to CNBC, Telemundo and Theme Parks, understanding latest performance, macro environment and significant risk / opportunities being faced by:
o monthly pacing calls / reporting with various FP&A teams
o understanding key issues in budgets and LRP and providing progress updates to VP FP&A
o providing required reporting for NBCU monthly updates with NY and quarterly memo to NBCUI Chairman

3) Corporate financial responsibilities -
• Working closely with International Corporate FP&A Director to ensure consistency across finance team and understand key variances and pressure points to budget targets
• Partnering International Corporate FP&A Director as required to maximise cost-base efficiency and improve the financial reporting obligations of the corporate department, by:
o Providing VP FP&A with timely updates on P&L estimates, notable events and exposures
o Communicating as required with NY FP&A
o Working with finance team to actively managing cost base to improve efficiency and develop / encourage best practices
o Developing KPIs and analysis of performance to key metrics
o Working closely with Controllership team to ensure timely and accurate corporate allocations

4) Ad hoc projects -
• Variety of ad hoc presentations / analysis / reporting for NBCU Int’l senior management
o Manage the delivery of the annual Asset Audit project with VP FP&A (annual review by territory across NBCUI)
o One-off financial presentations / town hall presentations support
o Territory key focus analysis following disruptive events (i.e. govt. action, new law)

Desired Skills and Experience
Business Experience / Skills Requirement

• Finance professional with 5+ years of PQE
• Able to demonstrate commercial finance / FP&A experience in an international matrix organisation
• Ability to work in a fast dynamic environment whilst managing competing priorities and ensuring completeness / accuracy of all estimates
• Flexible and enthusiastic self-starter with an ambition to grow through the role
• Comfortable working with a mixed and changing portfolio of projects and tasks
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with Senior Management
• Ability to safeguard sensitive and confidential data
• Ability to manage and develop indirect staff
• Excellent English (written and spoken) language
• Strong PC skills - SAP experience with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
