Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for a Director of Professional Insights, a key leadership role and critical to the delivery of ACCA's 2020 strategy.
This strategy requires the Professional Insights team to increase its support of our vision to be number one in the development of the professional accountants the world needs. In particular, Professional Insights will support the agenda which demonstrates to policy makers, employers and the public, the value that professional accountants bring to society by creating successful businesses and sustainable economies.

To deliver against these needs, as Director of Professional Insights, you will lead a recently restructured high performing, collaborative team, working together and with teams across the ACCA.


As Director you will be the organisation's global lead internal and external representative on policy and technical accounting matters, especially (at a high level) on financial reporting, auditing and assurance, working with a very wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, at an international level.


You will possess the capability and experience of being the organisation's lead person for public comment on key overall issues relating to a range of technical and policy areas, enhancing relations with other technical and policy experts in government, regulators, professional bodies and employers and developing new significant senior relationships alongside the Professional Insights leadership team.

Desired Skills and Experience
In order to meet the demands of this varied and challenging role you must have experience of working successfully within complex environments, preferably in a multi-national/cultural setting. Strong leadership and management experience will be essential, in particular, substantial experience of line management of large and complex teams with the ability to work closely with other senior members of a global organisation as part of a broad team. You should also be able to demonstrate a clear and broad understanding of technical aspects of activity across the department, with proven ability to identify and lead on strategic requirements to meet overall objectives.

Keys to success include:

Educated to degree standard with senior experience working in a research and analytical role, and across different teams, preferably focusing on secondary research in a global organisation
A member in good standing of an IFAC member body is highly desirable
The ability to engage with high-profile employers and policy makers on matters relating to technical and policy areas, especially on financial reporting and auditing and assurance.
Deep knowledge of technical areas in accounting, especially in financial reporting and audit and assurance and experience as a practitioner in accounting and auditing or having held a high-level position in an accounting role in business
A wide base of contacts in the profession and a track record in developing relationships at senior levels in organisations
Experience and competence in public speaking and representing organisations on public forums
Skills in presentation and media engagement and proven experience in keeping to agreed policies when "on the record".
Strongly developed skills in influencing and negotiation
Experience in networking to extend contacts and positive relationships consistent with ACCA's goals
