Job Description:
Groupon is seeking a strong Commercial Finance leader for its EMEA Services organization. Services, Groupon’s largest segment, includes our Local and Travel businesses and generates $1.1B of Billings and $350M of Gross Profit annually.
This is a high impact commercially focused finance role, reporting directly to the EMEA CFO and partnering closely with the SVP of Services to define, build and execute on Groupon’s strategy in EMEA. This is not a typical back office position. We are looking for a data-centric individual with bar raising intellect, someone who can operate with autonomy and who has demonstrated a proven ability to lead via influence and deliver business results.
This role is based in London and will be responsible for leading and developing a team of 10+ commercial finance employees located across EMEA. In addition to managing a decentralized team, the role will require extensive collaboration with Chicago (Groupon’s HQ) and with the finance teams of other centralized functions such as FP&A, Marketing and Technology.

Responsibilities:
Full ownership of the Local and Travel Contribution Profit P&Ls – from Billings to Gross Profit to Direct Sales Opex
Responsible for delivering value added analytical support to the SVP of Services and other senior executives across Groupon – helping drive actions through analysis, communication and persistence
Identify inputs to business performance, lead and develop reporting cadence of actionable KPI for senior executives
Lead monthly/quarterly/annual planning cycles and the month close accounting variance analysis
Deal margin & pricing – analyze the way deals are structured, priced and merchandized. How do we improve the science behind deal structure to better maximize value for both merchant and consumer, while also continuing to build a sustainable business for Groupon?
Partner with marketing to develop a deep understanding of customer cohorts the purchase conversion funnel. Benchmark countries, cities, categories, business segment, etc. Quantify where visitors are falling out funnel, identify input drivers and drive actions that fix root issues and unlock value
Sales staffing optimization – build complex models to improve efficiency of our 1,000+ person sales organization, leveraging data on city population, merchant density, language, new vs. existing mix, deal categorization, etc.
Eliminate finance process redundancy. Stand up repeatable and scalable solutions which enable controllership while also shifting the balance of your team’s time towards value added support and away from driving core processes
Bring a strategic mindset toward discovering opportunities and identifying recommendations to enhance finance and business processes
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Math, Economics or other related field
10+ years of Finance experience in a variety of senior roles, ideally with both large cap and high growth businesses
Significant experience in building processes, with a clear bias to building new vs. optimizing existing
Proven ability to lead via influence vs. positional authority
Demonstrated strength of will, able to bring order and structure to a historically loosely run portion of Groupon
Experience working with and managing geographically dispersed teams
Strong leadership, communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to interpret and summarize complex data to help achieve strategic and operational goals
Results oriented and able to roll-up the sleeves in order to accomplish necessary tasks
Superior intellect and the executive presence to become a true business partner – someone who is capable of contributing to broader business conversations beyond their functional expertise
Comfortable with a fast-paced, always-on, start-up environment
Must have strong business judgment and excellent project management skills
High detail and process-oriented, data-driven with strong analytical abilities
Willingness and ability to travel across EMEA as required
