Director Digital Business Development NBC Universal Media London

Job Description:
The Digital Business Development Director is responsible for building digital products and partnerships that generate digital revenues on a local, pan-regional and global level across NBCUIN’s portfolio of networks and digital properties in EMEA, Asia Pacific and Latin America, and supporting local markets in generating digital advertising revenues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital Products & Partnerships

• Develop partnerships and negotiate commercial agreements with third-party digital companies that help support or amplify NBCUIN’s commercial offering to local, pan-regional and global advertisers. Target partners could be: Unruly, Teads, 7th Chambre, Diagonal View, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram
• Actively pursue and facilitate advertising-driven content syndication deals with third party digital platforms present across multiple territories (e.g. AOL, MSN, Yahoo, Daily Motion, Rightster), and focus on on-going content/product development available for syndication.
• Create and manage advertising sales strategy built around NBCUniversal content available on YouTube, working closely with content stakeholders across the international and US businesses to maximize revenues and ensure efficient implementation of agreed operating principles.
• Implement existing US-based digital partnerships and business models into international markets on a local, pan-regional or global level (e.g. Social Synch)

Local Market Support
• Offer strategic guidance in selection, negotiation and appointment of third-party digital ad networks/sales houses on a market by market basis.
• Lead the introduction of international digital partnerships and content syndication deals into relevant local markets, and ensure their timely and efficient implementation.
• Track digital revenue performance on a market-by-market basis, and support development of long-term digital revenue forecasts during company-wide planning periods.
• Share best practises and case studies with local and pan-regional advertising sales teams across the NBCUNI footprint, and support application of learning’s in local markets.
Internal/External Communication
• Manage on-going communication and collaboration with London-based digital content team, Los Angeles based E! digital ad operations and content lead and key digital stakeholders present in the US domestic digital organization.
• Serve as the internal champion of digital advertising and the broader digital landscape throughout the NBCUNI business.
• Develop NBCUNI’s profile and relationship among pure-play digital companies involved in advertising technology, ad network sales, social media and content distribution.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Digital-Specific
• Deep understanding of digital media – insight into the ecosystems, follows trends, understand the lingo, knows the key players – with hands-on experience building and/or managing a digital business, product or service
• Experience negotiating and executing digitally focused commercial agreements, ideally involving television or other forms of media
• Familiarity with various digital business models, including advertising, lead-generation, revenue share and other forms of strategic partnership
• TV-focused online sales experience is useful, but basic understanding of key drivers and processes involved in digital ad sales is essential
General
• Outstanding project management skills, able to juggle multiple tasks and stakeholders and work on short deadlines
• Strategic thinking, and clear reasoning and analytical ability
• Entrepreneurial self-starter with a bias towards taking action, implementation and getting things done
• Basic financial literacy, comfortable working with numbers, able to do simple modelling/forecasts in Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise presentations that simplify complex principles to a non-digital audience
• Good negotiations skills and comfortable translating these terms into contract form
• Ability to build consensus in an international, matrix organizational structure with multiple stakeholders
• Experience working in an international environment is important, but could also include experience working in multiple local markets
• Languages: Fluent in English and other languages desirable but not essential
