The HR Director will serve as a strategic HR Business Partner (HRBP) to the senior leaders in Europe and contribute to the achievement of business results by effectively integrating and applying HR knowledge and expertise, leadership and organizational capability principles.

This role will lead the Europe HR Business Partner team and be responsible for assessing the strategic and operational needs of the organization; selecting the most effective HR delivery model; and developing and/or implementing appropriate people programs, plans and interventions to meet those needs. The HR Director will thoughtfully assess various HR/business challenges, appropriately consider viable options for addressing them, and deliver solutions based on solid business acumen, best practices, cultural sensitivities and pragmatism.

Focus areas include strategic workforce management, organizational effectiveness dynamics, employee engagement, leadership development, employee relations, performance management and effective leadership and management of the European HRBP team. The HR Director contributes to creating a culture where Dolby values and strategies will help sustain a long term competitive advantage.

The HR Director will build strong partnerships across the functional Business Groups and Corporate Services and will effectively leverage existing knowledge, expertise and systems within the global HR Shared Service Center to broker and deliver HR solutions and programs to the business.

Essential Job Functions:
Participate meaningfully in the creation of business strategies and provide relevant HR insights and solutions to business challenges.
Contribute to organizational and talent growth by applying solid understanding of workforce planning, core competencies, leadership supply and employee retention.
Play a leadership role in implementing key, long-term strategic programs including those in the areas of employee and leadership development, talent readiness, employee engagement , organizational culture and diversity.
Be a strong change management consultant by helping the business through transformations and adapting to changing business conditions. Coach senior leaders towards goal-oriented and results-driven leadership that will engage and inspire employees. Influence their thinking and decision-making by adding insight and solutions with clarity and conviction.
Broker HR services for the business by partnering with the HR Shared Service Center. Know and leverage the entire Dolby HR delivery chain.
Ensure effective application of the annual performance management program. Ensure that personal development plans are completed and that managers are equipped to deliver development discussions.
Be a workforce and environment champion. Implement initiatives that will result in strong employee engagement. Identify cultural requirements and behaviors necessary to achieve business goals. Monitor and actively encourage diversity and inclusive behavior.
Participate in key hiring decisions.
Partner with HR Shared Services, HR Centers of Excellence and Corporate Development on Mergers & Acquisition integration planning and processes for HR related issues.
Manage employee relation issues consistent with Dolby Leadership practices with a focus on risk mitigation and effective problem resolution.
Contribute to the development and improvement of HR programs and processes in support of HR operating as a progressive, innovative and strategic function. Deliver business intelligence to HR Shared Services as input to ensure effective and business relevant programs.
Manage the regional deployment of enterprise wide HR initiatives like Dolby’s employee surveys and learning and development programs.
Manage the development, refinement and/or communication of HR policies, procedures and practices to ensure sound leadership application and legal compliance.
Effectively lead and manage the European HR Business Partner Team, ensuring roles and responsibilities, performance standards and business objectives are all clear. Develop team members in ways that support their personal growth objectives and future company needs. Regularly assess resource needs and lead efforts to creatively meet them.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 15 years related HR experience. Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Psychology/Development is desirable.
5+ years’ experience required at the Director level.
5+ years’ experience managing a team of HR professionals.
Experience working globally, especially within countries in Europe. Experience working for a US based, multinational technology company.
Experience providing HR support to multiple countries within Europe. Solid working knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations for at least 3 of the following countries : Spain, France, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Russia. Strong knowledge of UK labor regulations highly desirable.
Experience supporting regional Sales and Marketing functions is strongly preferred.
Strategic thinker – Focus on critical areas of strategic contribution, and translate these into appropriate management and HR actions. HR expert – regularly applies HR experience and knowledge in cultural, legal and technical areas to increase organizational performance and mitigate risk.
Demonstrated thought leadership skills in the area of HR programs development and execution including: retention, organizational development, performance measurement, learning theories, and employment law.
Change leader – the ability to anticipate the need for change, consult with clients on effective approaches to change, architect change plans and assist clients with leadership and execution.
Strong business acumen.
Organizational development and employee relations resolution experience.
Good knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment impacting HR decision-making.
Ability to influence at multiple levels of the organization, including C-level / Executive Leadership Team members.
Ability to address issues constructively by providing independent, objective and at times courageous advice.
Personal credibility – the ability to operate without vested self-interest. Consistently offer quality advice, counsel and insight. Demonstrate balanced perspective, sound judgment, a practical results orientation and discretion.
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
The ability to successfully operate in a fast-paced company and to regularly and successfully juggle competing priorities.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite.
Require regular travel within Europe and limited (1-2 times per year) international travel.
