We are seeking a talented and experienced Head of Customer Marketing, with a strong background and expertise in Search Engine Optimisation, together with experience in paid search, email, website and search analytics in an online retail environment. Working alongside finance, content managers and technical colleagues, the Head of Customer Marketing will design and implement the Marketing strategy to drive qualified traffic to the site as well as new customer acquisition.
He or she will be responsible for delivering the company growth goals through all marketing channels and will be a key stakeholder in our product roadmap driving exciting growth initiatives. The role also includes the implementation and refinement of the Mobile strategy for Book Depository.
The scope covers developing and implementing marketing channels strategies across multiple geographies, which will require the understanding of the purchasing behaviors in different parts of the world, to adapt accordingly. The successful candidate will have a proven track record delivering enterprise-level SEO initiatives, working closely with technical and marketing teams, and communicating with executive stakeholders. Also, he/she will collaborate with Search teams at Amazon and other Amazon subsidiaries.
The role will manage a team of 4, is part of the Book Depository leadership team and reports to the Commercial Director.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing the worldwide Marketing strategy for Book Depository (across different channels), defining the metrics to measure success, creating the roadmap of initiatives and driving the successful delivery of results
Actively managing SEO performance with a hands-on approach including keyword research, competitive analysis, link building, optimization of website content and structure
Managing commercial relationship with external agencies and SEO partners in delivery of the strategy
Partnering with site merchandisers and marketing teams to develop content that supports Social and content strategies in line with SEO objectives
Developing the PPC growth strategy, revamping the affiliates network, managing the team and agency and effectively managing the substantial Paid Search budget
Developing traffic monitoring, metrics, analytics and success metrics to provide regular reporting and analysis for multiple stakeholders
Develop mobile strategy for Book Depository and act as the commercial lead to implement it
Develop a highly engaged and capable team through coaching and performance improvement actions
Engaging with colleagues in the wider Amazon family and leveraging resources to make the worldwide SEO and PPC programmes a success
Basic Qualifications
A deep understanding of all traffic-driving mechanisms (Email, search, browse, SEO, etc.); actively engaged in optimizing the conversion of the traffic coming from those channels
An SEO expert with strong strategic and tactical experience, and a proven track record of driving exceptional SEO growth on large scale internationally-focused websites
Expert knowledge of all aspects of SEO, including technical website analytics and architectural optimization, content marketing and offsite link building strategies
Experience of managing international Paid Search (PPC) campaigns and budgets
Experience successfully managing high performance, lean teams
Proven ability to work closely with technical (software development) teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
8+ years’ experience in eCommerce, online marketing or related fields
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or similar business qualification
Self-starter with ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
International experience, with additional languages
