Reporting to the Vice President UK Partnerships and Brand, the holder of this role will be responsible for defining and executing the strategy for the UK Consumer Cobrand Card portfolio, managing the relationship with key partners, new business development and managing the UK Partnerships Team.

Specifically the person in this role is accountable for:
Partner and product management

· Managing the UK Cobrand card business including ownership of the P&L and strategy development to build long-term sustainable business growth

· Building and developing relationships with Cobrand partners at different levels of the organization, with ultimate ownership of the relationship with UK Cobrand partners such as; British Airways, Nectar, Harrods, Starwood & Costco

· Setting strategic priorities for each partner and ensuring buy-in across stakeholders both internal and external

· Effectively renegotiating cobrand agreements as they come up to ensure sustainable financial terms with a strong growth trajectory

· Deliver revenue and marginal contribution targets through product management, marketing and customer experience initiatives

· Defining and delivering the Cobrand Card customer acquisition strategy in partnership with the UK Consumer Acquisition team

· Ensuring the customer experience for Cobrand Cardmembers exceeds expectations and differentiates American Express from the competition

· Working closely with key stakeholders across the business to ensure that targets are met

· Partnering with International teams to leverage best practice across countries

New Business:
· Setting the strategic direction for new partnership business development

· Overseeing the prioritisation of the UK partnerships pipeline

· Conceive a compelling value story, present or support presentation of formal proposals, ensuring an acceptable financial/commercial outcome, and a win-win for Amex and partners

· Working closely with key stakeholders to ensure that new partnerships meet the broader strategic needs of the business

Managing and developing high performing Partnerships Team

Qualifications


Required skills:
Strong commercial and financial acumen – Demonstrated superior understanding of card issuing economics and finance concepts; strong commercial and analytical skills, innovative problem solving expertise to leverage to deliver profitability and competitive advantage for our products, services and capabilities
Ability to motivate, engage and develop a team
Previous product management experience
Excellent influencing, negotiating partner management skills
Ability to build and develop deep relationships with external partners to drive business volume, revenues and profitability
Demonstrated ability to build and leverage relationships across diverse business units including Risk, Finance, Merchant Acquiring, Servicing, and other teams
Proven track record for developing and executing winning strategies – the ability to analyse data to determine and effective strategy for growing the engagement of the customer base, and prioritise activities to maximise the customer and shareholder returns
Ability to communicate effectively the overall UK Partnerships vision and strategy in order to gain buy in across all levels, including at highest Executive levels
Understanding of American Express products and their economics, services and capabilities and ability to leverage them to drive profitability and competitive advantage
Track record in sales negotiations and closing skills in the financial services market
