IB Tech - EMEA Head of Architecture - Executive Director J.P. Morgan - London

Job Description

The EMEA Head of Architecture reviews and/or delegates EMEA and AsiaPac-oriented project designs from all lines of business (credit, rates, equities, structured products, risk, core processing, etc.) and drives them toward our IB Target State Architecture.

The IB Architecture Office is responsible for ensuring that the global tech development effort of more than 7000 professionals converges to a Target State Architecture that maximizes the competitive position of the IB for all types of customers and clients across all regions.

Review and guidance of all IB tech projects with EMEA or AsiaPac design locus with respect to IB and Firmwide functional and non-functional (performance, security, code quality, etc.) goals.

Responsible for the Information Architecture group within the Architecture Office.

Governance activities (e.g. product and pattern standards creation, syndication, and maintenance) for IB tech.

Represents the IB on Firmwide steering and working groups with other architects, engineers, and managers.

Daily interaction with design and implementation staff in IB Tech. Output is an effective mix of tactical and strategic recommendations including Architecture Office-based development. Work with CAO on cross-divisional efforts such as wholesale banking reference data and properly engaging corporate tech on broader horizontal initiatives such as training & development, skill certification, and Firmwide shared services. Continuously monitor the footprint for efficiency opportunities, triage them, and present to Markets Technology and Core Processing leadership.

Desired Skills & Experience

Essential:
Very strong collaborative skills and energy
Excellent software and information architecture design skills
Recent hands-on non-trivial coding experience in C++ or Java or python
Keen sense of "reasonable level of effort" for tasks
Progressive and innovative approach to technology
Excellent oral communications skills with managers and developers

Desirable:
Experience with technology stacks that support 2 or more different asset classes
Vision and passion for economy in systems architecture
