ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently recruiting a Global Media Insight Director within our Marketing Function.

You will lead a network of Managers, dedicated to Media Insights and its evolution within CMI and the business. We believe that the ability to motivate and lead teams is critical to our success, as we come to better answers in teams than as individuals. You will motivate and lead the Media network. The leadership challenge is to provide functional leadership without having direct line management responsibility for network members. Therefore, to build superior talent, you will need to work in partnership with the Country Cluster CMI Directors to coach and develop the Regional Shopper Insight Managers.

The CMI function’s mission is to show the business how and where to win. In this role you will contribute to delivering our mission as the lead business partner to Media and marketing teams. This will require you to provide quality advice to senior business partners in their area of expertise - be that Media, marketing, or strategy.

You will be driven by an innate passion for the consumer and an inherent curiosity as to why things are as they are. This passion will need to be complimented by an equally strong ability to evangelise this across your teams and to your business partners.

You will be responsible and accountable for the management and delivery of key projects, as well as taking on a broader responsibility as an agent of change in the transformation of CMI, Analytics and the Media Insights capability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Set the vision and strategy for Media insight in Unilever. Lead the implementation of this.
Lead the global Media insight network. Provide functional leadership and coaching for key network members.
Lead the business partnership with key stakeholders (global MLT and CMI Analytics)
Create and implement best practice Media insight methods and applications across the organisation. Work with Regional Media Insight Directors to roll out to other regions. Ensure best practice Media insight travels and becomes embedded in all regions.
Identify Media opportunities to grow our global business. Drive these opportunities into the business with Media and Marketing teams
Lead key global Media insight projects
Set guidelines for Media insight budgets for regions and MCOs. Manage and allocate global Media budget.
Be the Media insights expert in Unilever, in order to consult on key strategic priorities and business issues in Media and marketing
Support regions in developing and delivering their Media insight plans.


ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS


Generally you are expected to have at least 3 roles at junior manager and senior manager roles before moving into a Director role, unless you have other relevant external experience.
It is strongly preferred that you will have hands on experience of marketing, in either Brand Building or Brand Development, or customer development.
Ideally you will have international experience which has exposed you to new business areas and a wide range of markets and consumers. You can gain this experience by physically having worked in another location, or by working in global/regional projects or leadership teams.
