Role description

As the head of Internal Communications you will focus on developing and communicating key business and strategic information, to drive employee engagement across the business through a variety of channels.

Responsibilities

Internal:
Develops Deloitte's internal communications strategy
Determines and applies the 'tone of voice' for the firm's internal communications, and the style in which it is delivered
Works with other parts of the business to ensure the right internal communications channels exist and are appropriately and consistently used in line with the firm-wide strategy and plans
Provides strategic direction on the cascade of internal communications in service lines and business units, including consultation and approval mechanisms, and assures the quality and skills of the internal communications network across the firm
Align internal communications with the external agenda and messaging for the firm and more widely
Develops close working relationships across other communications functions reporting to the Director of Corporate Affairs, and with the CR, PR and Brand teams
Manages and delivers CEO communications programme
Supports other Executive and Board members where required with internal communications
Manages internal communications team of up to six people

External
Maintains an external network that provides insight into best practice and innovation in communications
Maintains a DTTL network that enables communications best practice to be shared across Deloitte member firms
Directly and through support of team members is responsible for relationships with external service providers used to deliver the internal communications strategy and plan

Requirements
Experienced communications professional
Experience in a delivery role in internal communications in a corporate or professional services environment
Degree (or equivalent) essential; an advanced qualification in a relevant field is an advantage

Collaborative approach

Previous experience of employee branding and employee engagement, including culture change programmes

Experience of handling/managing C-suite relationships/communications

Ability to develop and sustain through several media the 'tone of voice' for the firm and its leadership

Experience in communications with a fragmented group of stakeholders, in multiple locations and with different access to media

Proven management skills for direct reports and leadership skills for influencing a wider network

Exceptional writing and oral presentation skills

Participation in wider business strategy and its translation into a communications plan

Experience of new media in delivering communications

A track record of understanding new communications trends and their application to a changing employee pool, particularly new generations

Experience of tracking and reporting on impact of communications

Practical and pragmatic approach to delivery, but with a strong focus on creativity

Highly robust in holding the strategic line, and influencing/persuading or directing non-reports to adhere to central plans in the face of local pressure
