Job Description:
A unique high-profile opportunity has arisen to lead the award-winning development team at the University of Leicester.
This is an exciting time to be joining the University, who have just launched a new strategic plan, setting out their vision to pioneer a distinctive new elite of research-intensive universities. It is an opportunity to join a lively, global community, in which dedicated and talented people are helping to shape the future. The Development and Alumni Relations team will play an important role in helping to deliver on a number of notable campaigns on the horizon, in addition to the new Research Institutes, such as the National Space Park and a local enterprise impact campaign.

To support these aspirations, the University is going through a period of significant fundraising growth, and needs a dynamic Development Director to build on previous successes, such as doubling their annual income from commercial enterprise activity. You will need to develop the strategy for raising at least £5m per annum from a variety of philanthropic sources. Focussing mainly on principal and major gifts, you will also need to grow income from Trusts and Foundations, legacies, companies and friends of the University, not least alumni whom they want to actively engage more both locally and internationally.

Working closely with the President and Vice Chancellor, the University’s senior management team and highly supportive fundraising committees, you will need to design strategies for your team of 20 to deliver, and have a track record of raising principal gifts of £1m+ and leading major fundraising appeals of £5-10m+. Your experience of collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders in a major organisation, managing complex budgets and of leading and inspiring large teams, plus a willingness to travel will make you the ideal candidate.
