Job Description:
The Commercial Director for X Factor, will ultimately be responsible for driving all commercial and ancillary income around the brand. With primary focus on the UK market, the role holder will also be expected to assist in growing the commercial revenue for this brand internationally outside of North America. They will drive all commercial aspects and have the creative vision to develop new revenue streams out the format.
Responsibilities:
X FACTOR:
To have ultimate responsibility for the X Factor Commercial Strategy, including overseeing all activation of commercial deals.

To be the main point of contacts with our stakeholders:
Fremantle
ITV
To ensure Syco plays a very visible and pro active role in all commercial discussions around our format.
To drive the relationship with our partners, ensuring that both existing and new relationships are being given the upmost priority, and that we are growing the revenue across all areas of the business.

The core areas of focus will be:
On air revenue streams. Headline partners, product placement (need to work with production and partners to open up commercial opportunities)
Off air revenue streams, utilising X Factor mark in off air capacity
Live rights, X Factor Live Final
Oversee digital commercial strategy:
Digital gambling
Social networking sites
Voting and Telephony strategy
E commerce
New digital platforms such as Playstation / X Box
You tube commercial strategy
Download music strategy
X Factor customer journey, and how to monetise our viewers during and post broadcast


Business
To ensure that Syco is involved in all aspects of contractual and fulfilment process around any commercial deal.
Do not want to rely on 3rd parties to oversee commercial rights. Potentially be involved in re negotiations of any deal with Fremantle and ITV so that Syco has more of a pro active role in any commercial conversations if appropriate.

International and North America
To work closely with the International team to share best practice for other territories.

Project Management
In the event a commercial partnership would justify the appointment of a Project Manager, the role holder would be required to oversee said project manager in their role.
In the event that the project does not justify further resource, the role holder will be expected to project manage the successful execution of the partnership themselves.

Summary
To be pro active in the development of new revenue streams.
Have close relationship with all Syco functions to activate new ways of creating value, such as the M&S deal
To be the ultimate source of all commercial knowledge around the X Factor format. Be a resource for all sales documents and case studies for other territories.
To have responsibility for overall strategy that will require developing creative revenue streams both directly with brands and their agencies.
Person Specifications:
Essential
Strong commercial experience, dealing directly with brands and agencies
Experience within TV industry
Have had exposure to developing commercial revenue streams across multi platforms, ideally within entertainment industry
Strong deal negotiation skills
To have overseen and managed activation of complex commercial deals.
Ability to obtain USA Visa / ESTA
Strong deal negotiation skills. Ability to paper deals, and have track record at closing deals both domestically and internationally
Confident and articulate manner
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Able to work as part of team, with proven ability to work with multi stakeholders
To have excellent commercial contacts at: brands direct and key advertising and marketing agencies
Entrepreneurial / problem solver
Track record of creating new revenue streams, around IP, and being able to get buy in of key management team
To be a self starter, to have drive and ambition to make a difference to profitability of the brand
Confident and discreet in approach
Charismatic, with strong gravitas
Driven and self motivated
Commercially orientated
Able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
Diligent
Tenacious
Adaptable

Experience in international commercial projects
