Job Description:
The role will involve the provision of legal advice and support tothe Client Solutions business division of BlackRock Solutions in EMEA (‘BRS’) and the EMEA Institutional Client Business (‘ICB’), as well as involvement in providing advice to the wider EMEA firmon certain areas of corporate and commercial legal risk.
The successful candidate will be part of a team of 10 lawyers providing support to the ICB across the EMEA region. Principal legal support for BRS is based in New York and the successful candidate will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with this team. The candidate will be expected to work with a degree of autonomy and, once familiar with BlackRock documentation, to work with minimum levels of supervision. The ability to start soon would also be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify, address and manage legal risk issues arising within the supported businesses across the EMEA region.
Review and negotiate technically and legally complex investment management agreements, investment advisory agreements, strategic services agreements and other agreements relevant to the supported businesses.
Liaise with, and provide advice to, Client Contracting (“CC”), the specialist operational area within BlackRock responsible for negotiating standard form investment management agreements.
Actively manage relationships with key internal, often senior, stakeholders and external advisors.
Commission external legal advice where appropriate (e.g. specialist or overseas advice) on areas of law which impact the supported businesses and ensure quality advice is delivered.
Liaise directly with members of ICB, BRS, Legal & Compliance globally, and other BlackRock business areas and teams, and with external lawyers and consultants acting on behalf of clients.
Advise on new law / regulation / policy changes and how the business / documentation can best take account of this.
Knowledge/Experience:

Solicitor / lawyer qualified in England and Wales or other relevant jurisdiction(s).
Extensive, relevant post qualification experience.
Relevant investment management or other financial services experience (gained either in private practice or the in-house legal team of a financial services organisation).
Previous experience of managing other colleagues would be advantageous.
Previous transactional legal experience would also be highly beneficial.
